320, Thursday late morning

Much as Peter was in denial, he knew that he had to pack up and get ready to leave. Taking time to start the process while Sam was walking Scout seemed like a way to try to lessen the emo pain of it.

Peter started with things he wouldn't need in the next few days, such as cold weather clothes and his school supplies. He tossed them into suitcases, not really worrying about getting anything wrinkled, and figured he could sort it all out when he got home.

When he reached his art supplies something started to happen. Peter blinked, feeling that strange sensation that came when he couldn't focus on what was right in front of him. Another blink and his eyes turned white. Seemingly blindly he reached for the nearest supplies he could get, which turned out to be paint and brushes. What wasn't handy was a canvas. So Peter dropped down to the floor and began painting on that. He worked in a frenzy, using artistic skills that were far beyond his level when this power wasn't pushing him.

When he was done his eyes returned to normal and there was a full-color painting beneath him. Yet again he'd created a picture of someone exploding, with the city of New York behind them.

"Crap," Peter said, having no better word for how he felt.
