This is an overview ficlet of Seiran's time back home between DR visits, put in sentence challenge format. It's roughly in chronological order, and shouldn't be too rough to follow. (Do post if anything's completely confusing, though.) And no, I'm not sure I am using semicolons right. I used the
Alpha challenge set from
onesentence, but I haven't listed myself there - the site's for pairing claims only.

#31 - Home

#13 - Death
In some ways it was like a tomb, and just like another years ago, this one protected a golden box with a hidden treasure.

As her mother shook her best friend's hand and smiled, Seiran knew she was going to have to come up with something else, before she found herself on a plane to a boarding school.
#19 - Wind
Two decades, and Kujaku Mai could still blow everyone away just walking into a room.
#29 - Melody
That first trip, it wasn't bad sharing a bed with her new chaperone; listening to her sing in the shower the next morning, that was uncomfortable.
#20 - Freedom
The preparation, the battle, the support - winning didn't mean near as much as the chance to play the game.
#05 - Potatoes
The day after the tournament, Seiran choked on her lunch when Mai admitted she just now believed who she was.

The beds were always big with plenty of room, but sometimes the weight of someone at her back reminded her of being held, and she'd curl around an extra pillow to curb the memory.

#07 - Chocolate
She drank something else with breakfast, but she couldn't finish it when she recalled the last time she made hot chocolate.
#35 - Bonds
She kept that one piece tucked in her pants, and when no one was looking she'd take it out, rub the metal, and whisper into her mind, pretending someone listened.

Sometimes she tried to curb the habit by saying she'd see him again, but could she really get into heaven with a god's scorn?

She'd dealt with hospital food all her life, but when he snuck a burger in for her, she wasn't lying about it being the most delicious thing she ever ate.
#09 - Telephone
Thousands of miles apart with no way to see her was not how she pictured meeting Anzu again, but it turned out talking over the phone was more than enough to choke her up.
#49 - Hair
It didn't take more than a glance of white hair to recognize him; it didn't take more than a single, partnered duel to recognize her.
#22 - Jealousy
When people came up and asked Mai and Jounouchi for autographs, it was the fans she envied; they watched them grow into champions, while she missed it all.

#37 - Technology
She realized how far she'd fallen behind when she mistook her birthday present for a simple bracelet.

#01 - Comfort
The number listed on her phone reassured her that even when she left, she wasn't losing anything.
