I fully realize that a good majority of the population is perfectly at ease with the fact that they feel emotions. However, I have said it before, and I will say it again; there's a great propensity for whining when a loved one decides that the fickle nature of the emotional bond between you have been severed, or when one leaves the City for however long the deities may decide.
You've effectively managed to create your own misery.
That isn't to say that sex isn't a valuable resource, and face it, the genetic qualities that tend to be passed on often leave one with a distinct sense of satisfaction, and sexual release of any kind does make the chemical processes smoother. However, it's not necessary to make such claims over the state of love or affairs.
There's a

one angry enough to neglect what might otherwise be important to them because of a ridiculous notion. And of course there are the City
standing jokes.
