I hope that EVERYONE has a real WHAM christmas. And that it won't be like Last Christmas. Because I gave YOU my heart, and the very next day, YOU gave it away. Have a Real George Michael Christmas.
Merry Christmas Everybody.
Welcome to George M. FEVER!!
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
But the very next day, You gave it away
This year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby do you recognise me?
Well it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me
(Happy Christmas!) I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying "I Love You" I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been
But if you kissed me now I know you'd fool me again
Chorus
(Oooh. Oooh Baby)
A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
My God I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Oooh Oooh
Now I've found a real love you'll never fool me again
Chorus
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart
(Gave you my heart)
A man undercover but you tore me apart
Next year
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special
special
someone
someone
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special
who'll give me something in return
I'll give it to someone
hold my heart and watch it burn
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone special
I've got you here to stay
I can love you for a day
I thought you were someone special
gave you my heart
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone
last christmas I gave you my heart
you gave it away
I'll give it to someone, I'll give it to someone
and juat a little info...
Back in 1984 Last Christmas gave Epic (Wham!'s record label) their second 1m+ selling single in history (the first being
Careless Whisper) although it never got to No.1.
It was held back by
Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas, the charity project initiated by Bob Geldof, in which George Michael was involved too.
It is the song that George said would bring tears to radio listeners' eyes and he was probably right. It still is available as a CD single in some regions and even charted in 2004 in Germany . This isn't too bad for such an oldie, is it?
The true classic's a-side was switched into
Everything She Wants once christmas was over what therefore extended its stay in the charts.
These are the different versions Last Christmas has been released as:
- Last Christmas (7"-Version) (4'24'')
- Last Christmas (Pudding Mix) (6'47'')
- Last Christmas (Pudding Mix) (Edit) (4'34''
I wonder why they call it a pudding mix? hmm... Nuff' said. Don't act like you all hate Wham, they went Platinum. Thanks Wham.
