In the early days of Rent there was a girl who faked a life-threatening illness in order to get close to cast members and other fans while waiting on the rush line. It was this whole elaborate thing where she was slipping into comas and a "friend" sent e-mails updating everyone on her condition... it turned out to be total shit. This American Life did a story on it a few years ago.

I listened to it and I simply can't believe how far she went. The story was extremely well put together (and the interviews with Anthony and Gwen and the songs bits certainly made me happy) and was fascinating to boot.

I learn something new about Rent everyday. Thanks for providing today's lesson.

This American Life interviews are always well put together XD Of course, being an upper-middle class liberal college student, I might be slightly stuck-up biased in that matter.

But yeah. Crazy shit. People in this fandom have a long history of being crazy, but that story will always take the cake. I think it will be hard to out-wank that chick. Not that it will stop people from trying I'm sure.

I don't know about the whore bitches but they definitely do look stupid with their Rent shirts on. I thought only 12 year olds wore Rent clothing to the show. One saving grace, though, is that it's the best photo of Matt Caplan I've seen in a long time.
