I have to admit that this city is growing on me. We had a terrible first night...and I started crying in the middle of a restaurant the second day when I thought we were charged ten dollars for a bowl of soup a piece. Everything is much more difficult because of the language here...and not knowing or being able to figure much of any of it out. I was getting really tired of being raped over because of being a tourist. Then we learned that prices fell roughly 70 percent when you get yourself out of the tourist areas. I mean...its usually higher in tourist areas, but Prague is known to be inexpensive, and little patches were going for five dollars and little poscards for six dollars. It probably doesnt help that the czech crown is 22 to our dollar and it makes things a little tricky. But now that we know the bus system and the money and where NOT to go, things are better. We bought tickets to a horn and organ concert in one of PRagues most famous churches. We are excited for that. And we walked all the way up to St Vitas church and looked around across the St. Charles Bridge. It was gorgeous. And then we climbed up another 300 stairs and had an even more amazing view.
We found a locals fast food chinese place and ate for three dollars a piece. My jeans wore out and I have had no luck finding any pants that will fit me even after losing so much weight. THe czech women, I kid you not, have no hips. None. So...I had to get some athletic pants.
We are hoping to catch an opera tonight for a little under two dollars...but we don't know where it is. we are cooking spaghetti in the kitchen for dinenr tonight. I can§t complain about the hostel. It has been the best so far for getting to know people, even if 80 percent are other Americans. Theres an annoying guy from Miami here..and he thinks he knows everything, but there are also some really nice americans and brits here.
Well...peace out from Prague. WIll try a shot of absinthe tonight. Or maybe will buy a bottle down the street and see if it is all true or not...
