horn stuff...sorry.

The horn players are flooding our Fine Arts building for the Midwest Horn Workshop. :)
Last night we had our final dress rehearsal for the horn choir piece. It did not go as well as I would have liked. But..as we were climbing down from the balcony, Kendall Betts walks in and sets his case down onto the stage. We say hello and start to leave Michelsen. We get out of the doors, and then we hear the loudest horn playing ever. Starts on an F and plays up the scale. F, G, A, Bb SPLAT! The worst sound any of us have ever heard. Then we realized it was Kendall "warming up". We all stopped in our tracks and looked at each other. ??????

And then someone said, yeah, that's Kendall warming up.

I guess Mike was standing right next to him when he played that, and after he majorly biffed, he put his horn down and just gave a goofy smile to Mike. LOL! I'm glad I wasn't in the room, because I would have died laughing had I been within a few feet of those sounds. How funny.

I'm working the Low horn auditions today...I'm going to miss a recital because of that, and that's a little sad, but there will be enough to do this weekend.
Doug Hill workshop at 3:30, Work the Low Horn, check out the vendors(buy a mute!), then Kendall Betts, and Lowell Greer Recital, followed by Tom Varner in the UC for some sweet jazz with our faculty.

Saturday: Concert at 10-12am: Erickson, Reeves, Ormsby, Kilp, and Flint, then we compete at noon in the quartet competition Concert at 2:30--if we make the finals, then that, or the IVASI demonstration, then the American Horn Quartet with the CWSO. Sweet.

Sunday: AHQ masterclass @ 10am. AHQ w/CWSO @ 4pm.
What a weekend.
