"it just shows the awful thigs that happen places, MAYBE." maybe? well, inhumane usually = cheap. people, when dealing with things such as death, generally care far more about productivity and money rather than how nice they're being. it doesn't, or shouldn't, matter what country it's in. i wouldn't doubt that the meat comes to us anyway, and just because some of it might not be in america, it doesn't mean we should not try to stop it. to my knowledge, peta is not confined to solely the united states anyway. what you see that goes on in a slaughterhouse is pretty much widespread. there are places that do do it humanely, yes, but their meat is called "free range" and free range meat does not get around very much.
(and if you don't believe the vast majority of this, then i am not quite sure why you'r a vegetarian!)
and i have to disagree with you on the first statement as well. of all the many ways one could be killed for whatever reason, there are some that most would consider relatively humane, and some most wouldn't. when talking about imminent death, it doesn't include the possibility of just "not killing at all".
regardless, i wasn't really disagreeing that peta can be a huge, ridiculous pain in the ass sometimes. sometimes they even make matters worse. but passion is what drives them, as it would anybody. to them, this is all murder. and if you felt millions were being wrongfully murdered in your country as well as others and no one was doing anything about it, you'd raise hell in every way possible too.
your last paragraph was pretty much what i was trying to say with all of that. PETA can be ridiculous and eggagerate things, but it has a point. and i'm sorry if i have a bad way of getting my point across. because i apparently do...
vegertarian=healthy. plus why eat something unhealthy for you when you don't really think meat tastes that great? those are my personal reasons. i don't agree with inhuman treatment of animals, but i still find myself eating meals with cheese, or seeing leather labels on my jeans, so i do not claim to be some huge animal activist, when i know it would be hypocritical. [since you were apparently wondering]
and when i said the killing is inhumane, i mean whether they skin the cows alive, or whether they use them for milk then knock their heads in.... i still view it as inhumane, but it's done.
