So, it appears that my fears about this summer were for no reason, because so far it's been great!
Work has been really good. I had that week off and when I got back i was completely refreshed and ready for the summer. I've been trying to be a lot more patient with the kids and let me tell you, it's a lot less stressful now. Plus my kids are just so cute and they really are behaving a lot better. Especially Connor who used to be so bad, now he's really cute and talking a lot and listening a lot more. I don't know if it's because I've just been more patient with him or what, but he's like a different kid now, and I'm becoming a lot more attached to him lately.
My summer class isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be either. It's really boring but it goes by fast, and the material is really easy. It'll be over in a month or so, so I think I can deal with it. I tried everything I could to not have to take it, but I do so I'll just have to make the best of it.
The best part of the summer so far was Ocean City. Jackie and I were supposed to go there last sunday, just for the day. Well, when we were driving up there her dad called, and when she told him that we were just going for the day he said that was crazy and bought us a hotel room and we ended up staying until Tuesday! We had 3 days at the beach! It was great too. We got there on Sunday around 10:30am (there was absolutely no traffic)and went to the beach. We went to where Waugh was guarding and said hi to him and stuff, and then we just layed on the beach all day. We went in the water for a little bit but it was so cold so we mostly just stayed on the beach. I think we layed out until 3:00 and then decided to leave because we still had to check into the hotel and stuff like that. So we went to the hotel and checked in. We stayed at the Francis Scott Key motel, and we thought since it was so last minute we would be getting a cheap crappy motel, but it was actually really nice. We spent a good 20 minutes just running around the room and yelling about how great it was lol. Anyway, we watched Surreal Life for an hour or so and then showered and got ready for our first night in Ocean City! We met Waugh at Pizza Tugo's at 6:30 and then went to the boardwalk. He came too even though he hates the boardwalk, but he was going to a bar crawl later that night so he would've had to go there anyway. We met up with Tina and Andy on the boardwalk but we only hung out with them for a little while. Then Waugh left with his brother and lifeguard friends to go to the bar crawl, and me and Jackie left to go do what we wanted. We rode the haunted house ride of course, and played air hockey at the same arcade that I got kicked out of last year. We ended up playing for a really long time and for some reason it was the most fun thing ever. We were pretty tired since we had left so early in the morning, so we left pretty early to go back to the hotel where we watched some more surreal life. Then we watched some preaching show with this guy named Peter Popoff and it was soooo funny! We watched it for a really long time and then went to bed.
The next day we woke up at 10 and met Tina and Andy for breakfast at the dough roller. Then we went back to Waugh's beach and did beachy things. We played in the water a little more this time cause it wasn't so cold, but once again mostly we just layed out. We stayed until 3:30ish and then went back to the hotel room. When we got there we decided to go to the indoor pool and let me tell you, it was the most fun pool ever! It was carribbean themed and it had a hot tub and a slide and these buckets that dumped water on you. It was great! Anyway, then we went to the boardwalk to eat dinner. We ate at Shenanigans and got these amazing cheese fries. Then we went miniature golfing and there was this family in front of us and the mom was clearly drunk and kept talking to us. I was really embarassed for her family because she was really annoying and weird. Anyway, then we went back to the boardwalk and played some more air hockey and walked around a little bit.
Tuesday was our last day so we woke up, got breakfast at the little house of pancakes, and went to the beach for one last time. We didn't stay too long because it was really hot and for some reason we were really antsy. After the beach we went to my aunts old condo (so sad that she sold it) and went swimming in the pool. After that we went to the boardwalk to get more of those cheese fries, and then we just walked around for a couple of hours. We went to the inlet and discovered those little shops at the end of the boardwalk. I didn't even know they existed but they were so cute! It was like a little town. It actually reminded me of the little town that we stopped at on the way to Cape Cod. After the boardwalk we decided to go home because there was nothing left to do and it was getting late. We were really sad to go, but it's ok cause we are definetly going to go back!
That was the highlight of summer so far, but Thursday night was a close second. Wilby, Eric, Shannon, Jay, and Sunyak came over to drink with us. I didn't drink cause I had work the next morning, but everyone else played find the 2. It was really fun to be with everyone because we were worried that this summer would suck since so many people left for the summer. It was a lot like last summer which made everyone really happy, and Lia took a lot of good pictures. It was a lot of fun and since it's only the begining of June, I'm sure there will be MANY more nights like it.
Last night was really really fun too. First I had to go to this pot luck staff appreciation dinner at work which ended up being a blast. Then I went to Sonar with Karen and Lindsay. I don't think I've been there since March so it was a lot of fun. Before we went in we just sat in the car and had such a great conversation. We seriously talked for a half hour before we went in. Then we went in and it was really fun. We danced a little, and sat on the couches for a bit. We left around 1:45 or so and then got McDonalds and the woman at the window gave us free cookies! Then we went home to eat and Greg came over. He just got back from orientation in Philly for his new job and he was telling us all about it. It was just a great night and I went to bed around 4:30am.
Tonight I'm being an extra in a commercial with Jackie and I'm really excited. Plus I'm getting 85 dollars for it!
So that's pretty much it. Summer hasn't even officially started but already it's great!
