Nice to meet you again.

This incarnation brought to you by the generosity of one fyreharper .  (Thank you, thank you.)

So let me tell you about my new name.  Rentetsu is Japanese for "wrought iron," which I think is a perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality.  Of beauty and strength.  It's something tempered and forged (but not faked).  It will bend ( Read more... )

The 'harper' part is probably obvious ;p I don't remember precisely why I picked fyre for the beginning besides it being elementalish and, well, being a middle schooler I thought the y looked cool (ok, I might sort of still think that ;p or at least, it makes it less 'this is about fire which is a concrete thing'). It's not a name I'd pick now, I think. But I'm not sure what is, either. Maybe Kyrrin. I still answer to that, from a few people (my original D&D character, played for several years).

My original birth certificate had my name as "Baby Girl" (I believe my sister's did too, and my brother would have been "Baby Boy"...) because my parents were not good at deciding on (/agreeing on) a name prior to each of us being born. My first name is because it was something they could agree on. My middle name I expect was much the same story - and it's spelled differently than my great-grandmother's name because my folks were trying not to name me/us after relatives (I'd imagine that being the first grandchild meant that there were family politics to avoid...)

Ugh. Yes, middle name related family politics are something that should be avoided. My parents chose a Japanese middle name that none of my ancestors in living memory had, so I dodged the bullet on that one too.

The y in fyre is elegant. It matches you.
