a little title confusion here...

...the name of this movie is identical to the one in the previous post!

7:31 AM 3/31/10 · When I deleted the 'company: The Asylum' tag I may've been a little bit hasty. They make such crappy films, that I ceaselessly keep watching, it's good to associate them together all in the hopes others do not make the same mistake I have. So, we now have an 'genre: asylum' tag.

I had to do something.

Actually saw this Sherlock Holmes on the shelf a week prior to the one that actually made it to the big screen was there. I actually didn't know The Asylum made it, the cover alone was reason enough not to rent it. I saw 'Sherlock Holmes', which caught my eye enough to take a step back. It was the fire breathing dragon, the dinosaur, and the thingy with the big tentacles that caused both eyebrows to go up and make me think that maybe I should just walk on by...

...and then the following week when I rented Sherlock Holmes, big screen version, I saw it again and figured "why the fuck not?"

I now know why the fuck not.

This Sherlock Holmes has a host of inconsistancies. Sherlock himself is a little whiney, his observational skills are first rate but a tad off (pay close attention to the autopsy). There's also the physicality, which I didn't touch on in reviewing the big screen one. Sherlock is supposed to be uncommonly tall and gaunt. This guy's gaunt but he's shorter than Watson which is just so wrong.

You may note that I'm not using an LJ·cut. That's because I'm doing whatever I can to insure you don't rent this movie. It is by far better than what The Asylum usually makes...but they still made it.

It starts off with a steamer taken down by a giant octopus. Nobody believes the one survivor. Then a mini·Trex starts tearing thru town. Upon investigation that gets confirmed pretty quick. All of which upon reflection leads to Sherlock's brother in a roundabout way, who is strangely not named Mycroft...

...and there's really not much more to know than that.

Yes, I did not mention the fire breathing dragon.

Tough tookies.

So, when I say you absolutely must see Sherlock Holmes, I don't mean this one.
