First Day
Ugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh agggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Working TEN hours today was absolutely heinous...but worth it. I went in at 7am. and since they didn't have any extra lab coats, guess what Garrick had to do for 10hrs? Deal with donor charts, answer calls, and rarely do Donor Document Database searches and queries. It was fucking exhausting. We had to pull charts for all the people that signed in, and let me tell you, plasma donation centers aren't slow....they get busy at 6:30am....and let me tell you another thing, finding these bloody, buggery, bollocky files isnt easy. They're filed by color AND last name. It goes like this: A,B=RED C=YELLOW D,E,F=PINK G,H,I=GREEN J=WHITE K,L=BROWN M,N,O=BLUE P,Q,R=ORANGE S,T=PURPLE U,V,W,X,Y,Z=CREME. So, when you have to find a chart, lets say Garrick A. Melchiorre, it would go like this: First initial is G, so, look for GREEN folders. Last initial is M, so find the 'm' wall and look in the green file section. Easy peasy lemon squeezy? I think not. If its not there, I have to check the recent new donor files section. If not there, check the 'missed call' section. If not there, I have to run to the nurses offices, look there, and if not there finally check our QA's office...Bugger. I think doing donor document database checks are fun, i have to run their social security number in our system to see if they're active, current, or deferred. Tomorrow I get a labcoat and get to actually screen people. Thats the fun part. Taking their vitals, asking them millions of questions, pricking their finger to collect blood samples, put it in a centrifuge, test for pathogens like HIV, HBV, HCV, perform a serological test for syphillis, and serum protein electrophoresis...which basically means test for protein, OOOh, and lets not forget the hematocrit test, which tests for iron. YIPPEEE! I can't wait.
Okay I'm SUPER tired, and I am at Evans right now. Upon leaving work, my cell phone has been raped. Its gone. I think some shady bitch stole it at work. We looked for it everywhere, but whatev, we got cameras. If worse comes to worse, i'll buy a new one because I have a feeling i'll get some overtime hours in if I have to work another ten hour shift tomorrow and I've already worked a total of: 25hrs so far since monday. Lets see, thats 10 more tomorrow=35, another ten friday=45 and thats the end of the payperiod. So overall I will accrue a total of: 360+overtime pay 68=428 bucks before taxes...and my last paycheck from hollister...whoo! Yay me. Okay I'm fucking exhausted I'm gonna take some excedrine migraine and eat something
