new place and fall 08 class stuff

I have a bed! With a mattress and everything. Went to Lowe's and got a bunch of wood sheets so, you know, I *had* a flat surface in which to put my mattress on cause all I had was an empty frame. A really *nice* empty frame, but empty none the less and requiring one big 3 and a half by 6 sheet of particle board or ply wood before I would be able to install a mattress. We went for the "add a bunch of slates and use a piece of particle board sliced into thirds" route so-as for easier maneuverability up the itty bitty stair case. So, again, YAY having a bed!

So, with the bed in place, my room is almost done. Still need to transport my other bookshelf, the TV/DVD/whatever stand that I have my TV and DVD player in (will probably be wanting to transport the TV and DVD player, too. Just, you know, so the stand isn't made null and void. ;) ), my desk, my "bed table" (aka, more book shelves), and my lamp, and I will be all set. Well, and clothes and stuff. But those should be easy enough.

And, on an *entirely* different note, I went and met with Doctor Heffernan this morning about switching my major to Geoscience. It will mean a lot of hard work and for sure a winterium class in GIS or some such, but I would still be able to graduate in Spring 2009 if I did switch. The nice thing about it is that Geoscience a brand-spanin'-new major at UWSP and won't even be "official" until October, so the teachers are willing to do a lot of substitution for those of us upper-class students who want to switch over and still graduate within the next year or two without having to take a ton of additional classes. I really think I can make this new major work with lots of hard work and a lot of help from my new advisers (who I actually like and have had in class before!) My brain might end up cooking until it is even crispier than past semesters, but hey, isn't that kind of the point of your last year as an undergraduate? ;) Hopefully I'll survive the frying pan.

Oh, yeah, AND I GOT INTO GEOMORPHOLOGY! You know, that class that I was all "woe, I really want in but I cannot take it because it conflicts with Remote Sensing, which I *have* to take this semester cause Larson won't be around for the spring semester, woe, woe, woe is me!" Turns out that the teacher who was going to take the class originally won't be able to anymore, so the teacher was switched and the time was switched. Now, instead of Monday and Wednesdays at 11 am, it will be *all* afternoon on Wednesdays, from like 3 to 8 3 until 6:30, so Yay not being at school as long as I though I was going to be. It means I'll be on campus pretty much for 10 and a half hours straight on Wednesdays, but hopefully I'll survive. Can't be much different from my Wednesdays for the Fall 2007 semester, cause then I was on campus from 9 in the morning until 9 at night (which sucks, buy the way. The walls start closing in on you around hour 10).

Also, Mandy and I are officially registered for a Modern Dance class on Monday nights. So, I have classes all day Monday and Wednesday, classes all afternoon Tuesday and Thursdays and then teaching swim lessons Tuesday and Thursday nights... Oh yeah, my brain is toast.

classes, geoscience, dancing, yay, point house, new place, uwsp
