Watched the Season 3 finale of Doctor Who. And my reactions pretty much are the same as everyone elses' that I've read so far. Which pretty much consist of "What. The. Fuck?!"

Still a good episode, though, even if there were even more "wtf?" moments than usual.

wtf, doctor who

What was WTF about it? It made perfect sense to me.

Everyone in the world thinking "Doctor" at the exact same time and some how managing to de-age him kinda threw me, and while I get why he said it, I'm not sure why they made such a big deal out of the Doctor's "I forgive you" or why the Master didn't want to hear it. I mean, I still loved the episode, it's just the last few minutes left me not entirely sure what had just happened.

The "Doctor" thing was also about the satellite network (Arcangel) that the Master had set up; the Master was controlling the world through a low-level hypnosis field working through that satellite. Everyone Martha had meant chanting 'Doctor' was about overriding that control, using the Master's own satellite system against him.

As for the forgiveness--that's very in keeping with the strange relationship the Doctor and the Master have always had. We know (from the Old Skool series) that they were good friends before they were enemies, and the Doctor has always been weirdly forgiving to the Master. The Doctor will laugh at the Master's ingenuity even after people have died--very out of character for him otherwise. And now, not only does he still want to reawaken his old friend in this evil being, but they're the last ones left of their race.

For time lords, they're name is very important. They get to choose it and it CAN give them power when other people say it. When only one person says it, it doesn't really do much. But did you notice how everytime the Doctor used the Master's name, the Master took a deep breathe and said "I love it when you use my name," or something like that? That had something to do with it. But as everyone on Earth said (or thought) the Doctor's name, it let him release some of his secret Time Lord powers that we dont know about. As temperary as they were, they were still powerful. Powerful enough to let him revert back to his old self (kind of like reverse regeneration).

And as to the "i forgive u" bit, it deals a little bit with a lot of the older Who stuff. There were a few references to the 1996 movie in there. And I think that the Doctor was forgiving him for all the evil he's done and the Master didnt want to hear it because he wants to torture the Doctor. And by forgiving him, the Doctor is at ease, which the Master does not
