Took my physical PhyEd test today, in which I had to bike on there AirDyne exercise bike for twelve minutes, keeping it at about 60 RPMs sustained and pushing it up to 65-70 ish for the last minute or so. Now, see, I *have* been practicing on the AirDyne bikes (the ones with the fan looking things on their front wheel) in hopes of, like, getting in *shape* for this test, but I had been thinking he would have us going at a steady, easy pace as he recommended all the non-gimps doing the running test take it at an easy jog. Well, I was so very wrong. It was a 12 minute high-intensity work out in which I got very very tired because I had only been practicing at about 50 rpms and the faster you pedal on those things, the more resistance they give you. I managed to pass with a C+ (I burned 110 calories), but my throat was as dry as sandpaper when I got done (no time to take a drink) and my legs felt like jelly. Seriously, not kidding... I took a step and instead of locking in place and supporting your weight like they're *supposed* to do when you walk normally, my knees were very very wobbly and felt like they were going to give out on me at any given moment. I didn't fall over, but that's only because there was a handy-dandy wall to lean against on my way back to the locker rooms. Was not a fun test and I shudder to think about when I'm going to have to do it again.
Also, to make matters even *more* exciting, we have the written portion of the PhyEd test tomorrow morning, and rumor has it (from the horses mouth, actually) that Harrington gives god-aweful written tests. Oy, I hate gym.
