8/29/05 - Day 5
Today we spent the entire day wandering around Munich, a good portion of which took place at the Deutches Museum (German Museum of Science and Engineering), where we saw all sorts of cool stuff like old German airplanes and rocket ships and laser images and pushed all sorts of those little buttons they had in front of a good portion of the displays to see what happened. It was a huge museum (at least four stories) and I know we missed a lot of it, but it was still much with the fun.
After the museum, we wandered around Munich some more in search of the huge Englisch Garten, which was *supposed* to be only a few blocks away, but I don't think we found it. We did wander through quite a few smaller gardens, though, so that was nice.
Finally headed back toward Ansbach around 6, I think, and got lost in Munich - twice. But, hey, that only meant I got to sleep longer in the back seat. It also meant that, and hour and a half later, we found ourselves at a little town just outside of Munich called Herhenkammer or something like that where we stopped to eat. For the record? Al Gustos, the little café we stopped at, had the best pizza I've ever had. If any of y'all are visiting Munich one of these days, go get yourselves from pizza from there - you won't regret it.
We finally got back to Ansbach around 9:30, where we watched TV for an hour or two before Emma and Joe crashed. I stayed up a bit later feeding my internet addition, but I think we were all fast asleep in bed by midnight. This whole walking everywhere thing the Germans do can really wear a girl out, but I seriously wish there was more of it back home. (authors note - the whole walking everywhere thing for those few days? Meant I lost five pounds in a week. And I enjoyed it. Seriously, why can't America be more like that? ::pouts::)
