Dammit, I have another urinary tract infection. A real nasty one this time around seeing as I'm getting about as much blood when I wipe as I might get on the very first day of my period (which isn't a lot, mind, but still rather worrisome when my period just ended about a week and a half ago and isn't due again until mid August). So, I spent the afternoon in Urgent Care peeing into cups and answering questions. Can't complain, really, as they got me into see the doctor within a half hour or so after I walked in the door, and the nurse and doctor I had were both really really nice, but we did run into a bit of a road block at the pharmacy when I went to pick up the antibiotic they prescribed me. Turns out the hospital records say that I'm allergic to Sulfa - something I, at least, didn't know about so which I didn't inform the nice doctor of; I think might have gotten my records mixed up with my mom's or something, because she is, in fact, allergic to Sulfa, but when I called an asked her if I was, too, she said she didn't think so, either. Anyhoo, as the meds they prescribed me had Sulfa in it, the pharmacy had to call the clinic again and see if the doc should prescribe me something else, so what should have been about a 20 minute wait ended up being like an hour.
But, as the pharmacy is at ShopKo, I just wandered around and window shopped for that hour, which while dull, isn't really much of a bother to me. Picked up a new book entitled Sandstorm which looked pretty interesting and had one of those shiny moving kinda holographic pictures on it, and got myself a new pack of gum. Eventually I did get the meds, so now I have two big honkin horse pills to take twice a day for the next ten days, which kinda sucks as seriously, these things are huge (like an inch long) and hard to swallow even *with* water, but hey, if they make the bad, nasty, burning sensation and blood when I pee go away, then I'll gladly suffer the uncomfort of having to swallow pills that are about the size of the top knuckle on my pinky for the next week and a half.
It would have been nice, though, if the bacteria had waited another two days before manifesting themselves, since my insurance doesn't kick in until August 1. Ah, well, at least I won't have to worry so much about the money if I have to go back for some reason.
On an entirely different and way more people-friendly note, only two people so far have commented in my
Make New Friends post, so I would love it if you would spread the word, and maybe even add your own mini bio to see what comes of it. Come on, you would be helping to more throughly addict a rookie to Live Journal... What's not fun about that? ;)
Will shut up now.
