So, the results for my Pic Spam post are in! Aaaand, the winner iiiiiiiiis... ::drum roll please::
Ickle Maren Pictures!
So, um, yeah... there are probably going to be a lot of these (one of the hazards of having parents who were professional photographers in college) posted through out several different posts over the next few days. And, as I'm not sure how 'ickle' you wanted me, for this post at least, I just threw up the first pictures of me I found in which I was 10 or younger. I'm thinking these rang from age 5 to 9 or there abouts, though don't quote me on that.
Alrighty then, let us begin! (I did make the pictures smaller than they were, but they still might take a few seconds to load cause I shrinking them too much lost some of the details, and I just *know* you all wanna see me at my adorable-ist. ;) )
This is me feeding a baby goat at some petting zoo somewhere at around age 6 maybe? I have absolutely no idea who the man with me is. I think he might be the owner of all the cutsie animals.
I think I'm about age 7 or 8 here, admiring the leader of the elk herd we have at our local zoo. Check out the antlers on that sucker! Most of the herd was pretty friendly and tame at the time this picture was taken, letting us pet them through the wires of the fence if they got close enough (ssshhhhh, don't tell... we weren't technically supposed to touch them at all ;) ), and I think I was reaching forward or moving my hand back after one such pet.
Me and my pal Bronze (or Gold. One of the two... they all look the same at this age), one of three pet Chinese geese we had for awhile before the fox got two of them and we let the other one go at the local park. Gold was the oldest (boy), Silver the middle (girl), and Bronze the youngest (also a boy). Silver and Bronze were pretty friendly; Gold was a bit less friendly. All three made pretty good attack geese, though (you ain't lived until you watched your dog chasing three geese around one side of the house and laughed your ass off as the dog came back around the other side with the three geese chasing after it. ;D ) I think I was around 6 or 7 in this picture.
This is me holding onto a little red belly snake I had found somewhere (you can see it's little head and about two inches of back sticking out over the side of my hand. Yeah, that brown thing). Now, I've always loved snakes, and red bellies have got to be one of my favorites... they're just so cute and tiny and friendly (the one in my hand is probably full grown - they only get up to around 10 to 18 inches long and usually aren't much thicker than a pencil). At least twice every summer you could see me walking around showing off the latest red belly I found and grinning like an idiot all the way through. I ♥ snakes.
As for the yellow thingies hanging down by my face, well, you see that little mouse-kinda head hanging around my wrist? The lion version of that little toy (we got them in Sunday School, I think... one of the ladies made them for the SonRise festive. The mouths opened and had little bible verses inside) hanging from each ear. Hey, I thought it looked cool at the time!
Also, it would be so nice to have that hair color again without having to buy it from a bottle... (believe it or not, that lovely dark red/auburn was my natural hair color until I hit puberty or there abouts. Then it went off and darkened on me. Damn puberty. At least I still have the reddish highlights.)
If I continue searching through all these old photo albums, you all are probably gonna get a lot of "Maren with animal of some sort or another" pictures. Cause YAY animals! Just warning you.
Standin' in my gramma's flower bed around age 5. Aren't I cuuuuuuute? :D
Buuuuuuuungie Raaaaaaace! Must. Beat. HIDI!
So, yeah, this is me doing the bunjie cord race with a family friend, Hidi, when I was maybe 8 or 9 years old at some festival in the YMCA parking lot when it was just wee and new (ah, the good old days of the Marshfield Area YMCA, *before* Brent Finly got his hands on it). OMIGOD, that thing was *SO* much fun!
YAY Camp Yo-Me-Ch-A Day Camp! I think this was the open house/over nighter at the end of the week when the parents all came and we had this big party and campfire and showed em all the cool stuff we had done over the week. I think I was showing Mom or Dad the spiffy fort we had built, though you can't see much of it in the picture. I was also itching my elbow, apparently. ;) Either that, or showing off one of the cool new owwies I got. Probably about 6 or 7 in this picture.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOO-CAAAAAAART! Whee, that thing was fun!
Anyhoo, yes, this would be my oldest brother, Gus, pushing me around my grandparent's drive way on the go-cart my Grampa Meyer made. Oh yeah, we were cruising... ;) Probably about 9 in this picture.
Sledding! YAY sledding! I'm the short one on the right, though you can't really see much under all that winter clothing. ;) No idea how old I was in this picture, just that I was wee and small... 4 years old maybe?
Right, then! One photo album down, 999 to go! (give or take. Did I mention my parents used to be professional photographers? :) )
