Rude Awakenings

May 20, 2005 09:23

This morning I woke up to a lovely crash downstairs. Now, seeing as my parents left for the weekend around 4:00 this morning, this did worry me a bit. Not much, mind, cause dude... like a robber would ever make *that* much noise.
Anyhoo, I wander downstairs to find a squirrel doing his (or her) damned best to tear apart my kitchen and, go figure, it appears that my parents took our leather work gloves with them, so I had no defense against the damn thing. I ended up chasing it around the house with a broom for a half hour as it continued to knock stuff down and make a general mess of things. I *finally* got it cornered in the sunroom, where I opened the door as wide as I could and continued the chase. After falling down, crashing into the windows several hundred times, a tearing apart a few of the plants we have out there, it finally had enough sense to go out the wide open door. Seriously, I'd be really surprised if this thing didn't have brain damage from all the windows it crashed into.
But, what matters is that it's *out side*, back where it belongs... It would have been so much nicer, however, had my parents not let the damn thing in in the first place. My best guess (seeing as the back door to the sunroom was closed and locked, which meant id didn't come through the doggie door) is that they braced the door open while they were loading up the car this morning/last night, and it came in then. It was a rather rude awakening, though.

wtf, squirrels, home alone
