Parents are watching Troy. I am not. I mean, I understand that it's a great movie and all that, and I *was* willing to give it a try despite the fact that Brad Pitt is in it and I really don't like Brad Pitt (I liked him in Oceans 11. That's it. And considering all the Brad Pitt movies there are? Not such a good ratio.), but when I walked out of the bathroom and the very first thing I saw was his ass, it was something of a turn off. So, am reading LJ and fan fiction instead.
In other news, have seen The Pacifier. *Very* cute movie in which Vin Disel was actually required to act. Did a pretty good job at it, too.
And when I first saw Chris Potter's name in the credits (Peter Cain from Kung Fu The Legend Continues), I went all "YAY! Peter!" and wondered if he would end up doing any kung fu in the movie just for old times sake. Then I saw him in that Navy? uniform as Vin's commanding officer and thought to myself "I betcha he's gonna end up being a bad guy; alas, he is destined to get his ass kicked by Vin Disel. No kung fu from him." And, what do you know, I was right. He mighta done an itsy bitsy tieny wieny bit of kung fu in that final fight scene at the end with Vin (like maybe a punch or kick at the very most since it was a rather short fight scene), but nothing compared to the cool stuff he and David Carridine did in Kung Fu the Legend Continues. But, at least I got a *little* kung fu-type stuff with the other two bad guys. YAY kung fu! Not much else to say about it except that. Was a very fun family film that I would watch again if I didn't have to pay. And, hey, Gramma liked it (she's the one I went with), so that's what matters, right? If Gramma is happy, we're all happy. :D
Now, on the *other* side of the family - Grampa Meyer has been back at home for a week or so now and he's doing really good. Apparently one of the bypasses he had a few years ago didn't even take, which was the cause for the heart attack, but since he never went through with the follow up stuff one needs to do after surgery, no one noticed until it was too late. He is, however, back on his feet and moving around. I highly doubt Gramma Meyer is letting him do much, and I imagine all of my aunts on that side of the family who live in the area are letting him do even less, but otherwise things are pretty good with him. Here's hoping they'll stay that way for the time being. :)
And, on a totally different note, I spent three hours worth of late morning/early afternoon wacking ancient paint off the ceiling at the building my dad is helping remodle for our friends' bookstore. Very hot, very dirty work in which I had paint chips and dirt/dust from above the ceiling I was wacking on raining down ontop of my head for those three hours. Lemme tell you, paint chips in the bra? Very very itchy and uncomfortable. And it was kinda nasty when I scratched my head and had my fingernails come away with dirt caked in between them. Needless to say, I took a very long shower once I got home. But, hey, at least I got paid 10 bucks an hour for my pains. :D
