Ooo, lookie all the lemmings jumping off the cliff! ::dives after them::
Translation?
Born in Eau Claire, WI, and lived there for the first two years or my life or there abouts. Moved here to middle of no where, Wisconsin in 86 and have been here ever since. So, I is Wisconsinite, born, bred, and raised. And right proud of it, too. :)
Though, dude, if you didn't already know that, you must be really dense or do a lot of skimming. ;)
1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks?
Creek with a long e. Crick is something you get in your neck when hunched over for too long.
2. What's the thing you push around the grocery store/supermarket?
Cart. No 'shopping' or 'grocery' added to the front of it, just cart. Though I will occasionally add the shopping part.
3. A metal container to carry a meal in?
lunch box, I guess. Though I never technically had a "box." Mine were always soft sided or plastic bags, which meant I ate many a smushed lunch.
4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in?
Pan or frying pan.
5. The piece of furniture that seats three people?
Couch or Sofa. I think I use both pretty equally, sometimes leaning more toward couch.
6. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof?
Rain spout. Occasionally gutter.
7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening?
Porch, front or back depending on where it's located.
8. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages?
Soda. Though I usually just refer to the ones I drink by name, like Sprite, root beer, or ginger ale
9. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup?
Pancake
10. A long sandwich designed to be a whole meal in itself?
Sub sandwich or sub. That, or when I'm really hungry, "FOOD! ::scarfs::" I like subs, yes I do!
11. The piece of clothing worn by men at the beach?
Swimming suit or swimsuit when talking to people who aren't swim instructors or lifeguards like myself, but usually just suit.
12. Shoes worn for sports?
tennis shoes, but it usually comes out all rushed together as tennishoes.
13. Putting a room in order?
Cleaning. Sometimes dusting, but mostly cleaning.
14. A flying insect that glows in the dark?
Firefly!
15. The little insect arthropod that curls up into a ball?
Sow bugs. Yeah, I don't know where I got it from either. Prolly my parents.
16. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the other sits on the other side and goes down?
teeter-totter
17. How do you eat your pizza?
Um... never really thought about it. I guess, depending on how big the pieces are and how floppy they are, one hand or two hands sliced pie-piece style. If it's still to hot to eat with my fingers, I might use a fork for the first few bites until it cools enough for handling.
18. What's it called when private citizens put up signs and sell their used stuff?
Garage sale if there's a garage or some other form of out building, yard sale when there isn't.
19. What's the evening meal?
Dinner. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Supper rarely.
20. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are?
Basement. Very very occasionally celler, but usually basement.
I still can't remember what I wanted to post this after noon. Buuuut, I got my research paper back in English today. Ya know, the one I was fretting over and rushing to finish last week? 93, baby! And the teacher recommended I offer it to a magazine or news paper. I probably won't, but that certainly boosted my ego for the day. ::preens::
And god, my brain is like a sivv today... I keep thinking of things I wanna post but then they slip away. ::bashes head against table::
