Sooo... I'm gonna try this 50 things about me meme I've seen goin around. I have a feeling it might be kinda tricky, though, cause most of ya'll already know pretty much everything about me. But, here goes...
Well, not really secrets... just things that never came up in conversation, or that haven't very often. Or have, but hey.,.. you try writin' 50 little known facts about yourself!
These aren't in any particular order... just wrote em as I thought of em.
50. Technology hates me. Especially Mac computers and VCRs. I once went through 4 older Mac computers during one 45 minute class period. Needless to say, I didn't get my in class computer assignment done.
49. Being a swim instructor, I usually go through at least two new swimsuits a year. I don't know whether to blame this on the chlorine or the quick-dryer thing we have in the woman's locker room with a basket that spins around really fast, getting the water out kinda like the Graviton at fairs works.
48. I hate wearing shoes, and will ware sandals until the snow gets too deep for me to walk through without getting wet socks. Only then will I give in and wear shoes unless I'm doing heavy lifting type stuff which would be kinda a challenge with sandals.
47. Because of my chronic sandal-wearing, and usually without heel or thong toe straps, I have remarkably strong toes and calves.
48. I also have rather strong hands, despite them being small. I was the only girl in my 7th grade Tech class that could use the hand metal-puncher (like a paper puncher, but for metal) and punch a hole through about 3 or 4 layers of sheet metal about .5 millimeters in thickness without asking for help from the teacher. (we were making metal kinda open-topped boxes) I think even a few of the guys needed help.
46. I am quite proud of aforementioned hands and feet.
45. I usually keep my nails short and un-decorated. The only nail polish I might put on my fingers is clear nail strengthening stuff.
44. Occasionally, however, like once or twice a year, I will paint my toenails.
43. Plants also tend to not like me, but at least not to the point of withering at my touch.
42. I braid my hair every night before going to bed, and have done so for probably about 10 years now. It's to the point where I can rarely sleep without my hair pulled away from my face in some way, shape, or form.
41. I have always been fascinated by astronomy and space, ever since my dad first tried to teach me the easier star constellations when I was all of 5 or 6 years old. I still don't know all of them, but continue to have my face plastered to the window trying to see the stars while driving around at night. (unless I'm the one driving... then I try to keep my mind on the road... :D )
40. I am also rather enamored by ancient history and have fancied the idea of becoming an archeologist, though I doubt that will ever happen.
39. However, my current dream job would be that of a photographer for National Geographic or some other magazine, taking pictures of ancient ruins or historic finds. I also doubt that will ever happen, but hey, it is only a dream. :)
38. The job I'm currently shooting for is that of a teacher, either in elementary or English or history in the upper class levels.
37. Very rarely will I be seen in a dress or skirt voluntarily, despite looking pretty good in them. Once a tomboy, always a tomboy I suppose, me even more so then most girls who consider themselves tomboys.
36. I enjoy to sing, and find myself unconsciously humming/singing quietly.
35. I am also pretty good at it, able to get into choirs you have to try out for. And though I doubt I'm good enough to ever become a professional singer, I have been told I could by friends and family. (I just smile and say "thank you" all the while thinking 'yeah, right...' :D)
34. I actually liked the Spice Girls...
33. ...though not enough to know their names or buy their CD, which really isn't saying a lot considering I don't usually buy CDs and know only a few singers, especially if they're members of a group, by name.
32. Savage Garden has been the only 'group' I ever moderately obsessed over, if you consider owning both their albums and knowing almost all their songs by heart obsessed. Never went to a concert, don't have any posters of em in my room, but they were and always shall be my favorite group.
31. I own all 4 Lethal Weapon movies and watch them on a regular basis.
30. My favorite is the third one.
29. I make pottery and hope to one day have enough money to buy a kick-wheel and a kiln
28. When I was little, I used to eat cat food (the dry kind with the little x shaped pieces). According to my parents, I even tried making 'soup' with it by adding water when I was three or four years old.
27. I believe I even tried dog food once, but it wasn't nearly as good
26. I put lip gloss (usually strawberry) on my lips every night before I go to sleep. I used to do this just incase my "Prince" came and awoke me with a kiss (YAY Sleeping Beauty!) in the night when I was little, but now I put it on cause my lips will get all dry and sore, and occasionally even crack, if I don't. Not sure why, since as far as I know I breath through my nose when I sleep.
25. I taught myself how to swim. Took only two sessions of swim lessons through out my entire life, once when we first moved here when I was 2 or 3 and all I remember of that class was holding onto the edge in the shallow end. The other set was when I was 11 or 12, and I already knew how to swim and only took it because I was tired of lessons keeping me from swimming when I went to the YMCA with my mom.
24. I didn't pass that class because I didn't listen to the teacher (cause I already knew how to do everything he was showing us), and pretty much did what I wanted too. He was a jerk anyways, and not a very good teacher as far as I'm concerned. :)
23. Before I discovered the wonderful world of clay and pottery, I would make mud pies and little figurines using mud. I've always liked getting my hands dirty.
22. I love jewelry, but don't wear it often. Only a pair of earrings or rings occasionally, and a metal dream-catcher necklace I never take off.
21. I won the a fore mentioned dream catcher necklace at Melody Gardens, our roller skating rink in town, after winning something like 260 tickets from all the video/arcade type games they have there.
20. I put it on a nicer chain and now feel naked without having it or some other necklace around my neck to futz with.
19. The Otter is my animal totem in the Contemporary Native American Medicine Wheel
18. My mineral/stone is silver.
17. Both of those fit me pretty damn well
16. I can not draw realistically unless I have a picture to work from. Even then, it's not very good
15. I can however draw abstract and do so in my own way... I ain't no Picasso, and my pictures usually end up being a collection of weird and random shapes that put together become an animal shape of some sort.
14. I also do pretty flowy designs made outta kinda spiral thingies and other lines. Aka, doodles. :)
13. I never played with dolls when I was little. I was a stuffed animal freak, and still have all of mine hanging above the bed in a make-shift stuffed animal net. I've never counted them all, but I'm pretty sure there are better then 100 up there.
12. I love snakes and want to get a boa constrictor some day
11. In fact, I loved all creepy crawly things (but snakes the most) that would usually make girls my age scream when I was little, and still have a serious soft spot for reptiles. (hence, number 12)
10. I used to hate chocolate... what the *HELL* was I thinking. :)
9. I feel guilty when I accidentally kill a spider in the shower.
8. I don't feel guilty when I kill a fly or gnat, cause those are just annoying.
7. The only insects I'll kill straight out (or try to, at least) whenever I see them are ticks, centipedes, mosquitoes, deer/horse flies, and the occasionally house fly or gnat when they get too annoying for their own good. Most other bugs I just leave be, they have as much right to live as any of us. And, they feed the birds.
6. According to pictures, I actually had dark reddish hair between the ages of 6 and 10 or there abouts. that's probably the color my hair would 'bleach' to if I was out in the sun more.
5. I make damn good meatless taco salad
4. I sleep with the radio and little desk fan on all year round, including in winter.
3. My group won second place in our school's talent show for a dance/gymnastics routine we did to 'Sweet Dreams of Rhythm and Dancing' (or some dance song like that at least)when I was in 4th grade... at least I think it was 4th grade. It mighta been 5th.
2. I got outta taking Keyboarding in highschool, even though I failed the typing test in 8th grade, by taking a computer course (how to use em) instead. My typing was less then 20 wpm, and we had to have at least 25 to pass in 8th grade. I now type something like 60 wpm or more, all thanks to e-mail and instant messaging programs... Keyboarding class? I don't need no *stinkin'* keyboarding class!!! :D
1. And I really can't think of anything else that could be considered "little known" about me, so you all can enter something you already know about me here and call it little known. :)
That took waaaaay more thought then it shoulda... damn me for being totally open when it comes to my lack of life. :D
