Spark Notes version of the last month or so

I have been so horrible about updating. I am a shame to updating name.

Lemme see what all I can remember from the last few weeks:

Saturday Dec. 7 - Gingerbread house making and decorating with Molly, Nick, and their three boys age 3ish, 5ish, and 8ish I think. There was also Holiday decorating in there somewhere, but that may have been pre-gingerbread building

Sunday, Dec. 8 - my friend JB's Star Wars Holiday Special party. I successfully managed to ignore all but about two minutes when the lady all in white was sort of singing. I call that a success. Also, free food!

There were also several extremely fun game nights between December 10th-ish and December 23ish. Cards Against Humanity + at least 6 other like minded friends = MUCH FUN AND DIRTINESS TO BE HAD!

Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the Day After Christmas were spent at home hanging out with the family. What my parents and I were expecting to be a quiet Christmas Eve with the four of us (Mom, Dad, Gramma, and myself) ended up becoming an unplanned visit from almost 2/3 of the family. My aunt Susie the cousins, Sydney and Jon, as well as Sue's current beau John were all there when I arrived mid-afternoon. And then about an hour later my oldest brother, Gus, and his fiancee Kat showed up as well. Gramma was, of course, thrilled with all her well wishers and being surrounded by family, so even if it was unexpected, I am definitely not complaining. There were also all sorts of munchies up for grabs, so again, not complaining in the least! :)

Christmas Day was more the quiet gathering we had initially expected. My other brother, Ben, was planning on coming for Christmas Dinner, but he ended up getting quite sick right before he left, so it was just the four of us again. I took Buddy for a walk down the road and we played in the snow a bit, and we all spent maybe an hour or so gathered around the phone set on speaker when one of our oldest and dearest family friends, Theresa called, but otherwise it was a cozy, quiet afternoon and evening.

Monday, December 30 - my first day of work at the new job! Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought my interview at Sentry went well, because they called a week later to offer me the position. In fact, one of my then interviewers and now current boss actually told me after I had mentioned in passing how glad I was that they like me enough to keep me that "Oh, we were definitely going to keep you, it was just a matter of finding out which department would be the best fit for you," which pretty much made my day. I'm working as an Operations Assistant and doing a lot of form processing and letter sending - the first day or two it was a LOT to take in and a little daunting, but I'm finally getting the hang of things and a little less frazzled by the end of the day. :)

And that pretty much covers it. I work 8 to 4:30 every day, and its been too freaking cold (we're into the second week of High Temperatures In The Single Digits, And That's When They Aren't Below Zero, and if the weather persons are to be believed, there's still almost another week to go) to do much of anything else even if I were so inclined. I did have New Years Day off, but I spent the entire day reading and chillaxing and not accomplishing much of anything.

friends, job opportunity, christmas, gramma, family
