Avengers - We'll Run Like We're Awesome

One more for the road, because it is fantastic and not only did I totally just happily donated another 18 hours of my life to reading it in one fell-swoop (okay, so there was about a 7 hour break in there when I, you know, went to bed and slept for the night, but that's still more than 10 hours of reading awesomeness!), but I have also saved it as ( Read more... )

It really, really was. I am going to have a very, very hard time sticking to my "do not reread for at least one year" rule on this one.

Huh! I hadn't thought of doing that. Why do you keep such a rule?

Keeps the story "new", kind of. If I have a year to forget all that happened, it's almost like I'm reading it for the first time. Not quite, obviously, because there is only ever one first time. ;) But even if I know where the story will end up, there are all these little things between the beginning and the end that I sort of forget about until I read them again, and that make it just as fun to read as it was the first time. :) I have the same rule for books I really enjoy - there is this one series I've read at least 10 times over the years (I first read it when I was 13), but I still notice something "new" each time I read it.

Well that certainly sounds better for the psyche than obsessively rereading because the tab is still open and I'm bored! :)

I may try your rule. Newness is good for the imagination.

BTW, do you know how to do a Boolean search on AO3? I keep hitting rape/noncon because I fail to read the tags thoroughly enough.

I'd love to try searching for, say, Steve/Darcy or Natasha/anyone (-noncon/rape)

I just do Search --> Works --> and then make sure the stuff I don't want is unchecked in the "warnings" section. Also, if you go to one of the stories you like and click on any of the tags you're looking for, it'll take you to all the stories with that tag, and in addition to that, there is "Sort and Filter" button over on the right with a bunch of stuff underneath it. Hit the down arrow next to "Warnings" and you can just put a check next to the stories you want, the hit "sort and filter". That's how I usually wander AO3 at least.

Ah, excellent! I've been mainlining stories author by author, but that's another good method.
