Spent a lovely, wonderful, and absolutely fantastic morning with my parents and one of our family's nearest and dearest friends, Theresa! She and her SO decided on a whim to drive up for Illinois when they couldn't get any flights back out to California right away night before last. She was mine and my brothers' physician when we were wee and small, took care of me when I was in the hospital when I was even wee-er and smaller (I was hospitalized for asthma when I was 2ish, and then there was apparently some drug that I was on that I shouldn't have been on that sent me into a nasty withdrawal around age 5 or 6ish), and she's been a huge part of our family pretty much my whole life. I hadn't seen her in 15 years, so it was amazing to see her again and spend time with her! If only I didn't have to work this afternoon (though I do have awesome coworkers, one of which was able to cover for me for the first two hours of my shift) I would've happily spent all day with her!
We all went out to breakfast (Mom, Dad, Theresa, her SO Jake, and myself) this morning and then Mom, Theresa, and I went to the zoo to check out all that had changed since she moved away from the area in the early 1990s. It was a bit cold and very soggy and rainy, but we were all bundled up for it and it must've been feeding time, because all of the animals - even the ones who are usually rather shy - came out as soon as they heard our voices. I took lots of pictures and it was much fun.
