More Avengers recs

Ah, Avengers. Epic opportunity for fic writers from both sides of the tracks (by which I mean comics and movies, and the happy little world where the characters coexist and intermingle!) that never fails to let me down. No matter how many stories I read, there is always something new to find.

Things Shouldn't Be a Chore by scifigrl47. Steve and Tony and the rest of the Avengers being adorably domestic and acting like a family. A big, mostly happy, extremely messed up family. Keep an eye out for the Toaster, he pretty much always steals the scene. First story in the 'In Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (but his family was assigned by Nick Fury)' series, starts off gen or pre-slash but the next installment - and I assume all the following ones as well - are Clint/Coulson and eventually Tony/Steve.
There is also Secrets of the Toasterverse in which the author decides to respond to some questions posed in the comments, and her rambles turn into awesome fluffy "This is why" fics of their own! Thor 'rescuing' people from the evil subway dragons of New York is a new personal favorite. ETA Aug 2013 - and yet another addition, Phil Coulson's Case Files of the Toasterverse, which totally made me LOL. A lot.

Culture and Other Balls of Twine by LithiumDoll. I already linked this one a few days ago, but I'm doing it again because it is just that fantastic. I Scrapbooked it before I was even half way though the series because I love it so, and it made me laugh when I really needed a laugh.

Even Gods Do by Cluegirl. Captain America doesn't have a good relationship with sleep anymore. Also, he's not a toy. Or, the Avengers got their Captain's back, always. Adorable teamy goodness (there is even a bit of totally platonic snuggling! It gave me warm fuzzies) in which Steve is eventually introduced to video games, and also, finally gets some sleep.

When they finally come to destroy the earth (they'll have to go through you first) by AlchemyAlice. In which Tony Stark went to boarding school with Bruce Wayne, and the road to becoming a superhero is not smooth. I did not even *consider* tossing Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne together (seriously, what was wrong with me, it makes perfect sense!) until I ran across this story. Now I just really, really wish there was more stories like this out there.

How to become a Superhero and gain a family (minus the picket fence) by nerakrose. Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne have been friends since they were fifteen

terms of endearment by pprfaith. Tony often shows affection in obnoxious, callous ways. It takes awhile for the rest of the team to figure it out, though some get it sooner than others. Tony and Bruce friendship.

Simple, Not Easy by LJC. After a botched kidnapping, Darcy kind of sort of unintentionally becomes Loki's BFF. Clint/Darcy, goes AU a few weeks after Thor, though the whole gang is there.

Secret Identities by copperbadge/sam-storyteller. Everyone has a part of themselves that others don't always get to see.

Ironside by sam-storyteller.

Peggy Carter mourned Steve Rogers, of course she did; she'd loved him, and in his awkward way he'd loved her. But she was a young woman, with a career and the world laid out in front of her, and eventually she moved on. She had other lovers, some she even loved. He was, after a time, the boy she'd lost in the war, and there were millions of women like her.

Howard Stark didn't move on. Steve had been his friend and his project. He searched for him until the day he died. But Howard was not the kind of man who could have just one obsession, so he searched, and he worked, and he made his fortune, and he chased anything in a skirt. He chased Peggy ceaselessly, and she never said yes until one day she saw him in a magazine, a photo taken at some reception, and he looked tired. He was growing old. And she realized she was too -- tired, and growing old, and Howard understood things about her nobody else ever would.

So the next time he came knocking, she said yes.

A little over fifteen months later, Antonia was born.
I've mentioned before, Sam is one of my favorite authors. And once again, he does not disappoint. Eventually Tony/Steve. There's also a side-along story that covers the friendship of Tony and Rhodey called Trustworthy.
