Avengers - there are many names in history
there are many names in history (and all of them are ours) by pprfaith. As I mentioned in the comment I left to the author, I had to read parts of this story twice just so I could get the full effect of the words and imagery once I determined what they were trying to do. First time through I was impressed, but still confused. The second time, my exact reaction was "Woah."

You know those old 3D pictures that were popular back in the 90s? With the riot of color and small, dizzying patterns that were meaningless* until suddenly there was a dragon jumping out at you?
Yeah, it's kind of like that.
* It was still usually meaningless to me, I only ever managed to successfully see the image two or three times. Still seems fitting, though.
