I cannot win. Computer issues still run rampant at work, and this morning my personal computer at home decided to go to black screen after I had been using it for a few minutes, and not even a hard restart could make it turn on properly again. I removed the battery - something that has worked in the past - and restarted, and it worked okay for another few minutes before it went to black screen again. Either my home computer now has a virus, or one of the automatic updates is causing havoc; one of the things I *really* disliked about Shadownight when I first got it was that the screen blinks out for a split second before the "new updates are available!" window pops up and asks me for permission to continue. This morning, Java was trying to update, so I suppose that might be part of the cause, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Will try a few odds and ends tonight to see if that solves the issue; otherwise, I am off to Best Buy to see if the three year warranty I forked an extra $200 bucks for when I bought the thing covers viruses or whatever issue is causing me grief. Again, I am not getting my hopes up.
On the bright side, if I do have to do a total system reformat, I have everything backed up except for three or four documents and a few pictures. Granted, the three or four documents mostly involve stories I've written or updated the last few weeks, and it would really suck to lose all the new stuff, but suck is life (I typoed "such" as "suck", but as it fits what I am feeling right now, I'm leaving it)
