Took my car in for an oil change this morning, and was pleased to discover that Coyote is actually in better shape then I thought. You know how most auto places give you a courtesy check and then go on to list all the suggested repairs and replacements? Well, the guy told me that - aside from the rust, which is a given as my car has survived 14 Wisconsin Winters - everything seems to be in decent shape. Some uneven wearing on the break pads, which isn't surprising because of the whole brake/sticky caliper issue I had last winter, worn belts (another given, as the mechanic who rebuilt my engine back in 2007 didn't put the damned belt on right, and so a brand new fan belt ended up getting frayed on one side), and most of my fluids could do for an exchange. Otherwise? Everything seems to be in fair shape. So, you know, hurrah for small favors. I also liked these guys much better than Perfection Tires - they're a bit more expensive, but I'll take quality over quantity any day.
After the auto garage, I hit up the big post office here in the Tri Cities to figure out why I'm not getting my mail. Filled out a change of address form, so hopefully that'll take care of the issue. Then I went to Sheri's for some bacon and eggs, because by this time it was after 10 and I'd only had a piece of toast for breakfast around 6:30. I have spent waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money on eating out this last week, though, so that breakfast - which really wasn't all that great; the bacon was incredibly greasy (as in, dripping) and the eggs were much the same. Perkins Sheri's is not, but whatever, the toast was really good - has to tide me over for the next week and a half or so.
Then I went to ShopKo because I have been sneezing all morning, so I wanted to get some allergy meds. Also picked up some cheap bright red lip stick for my Abby costume and a pocket folder that was on sale for 39 cents. *Almost* bought a new flannel shirt, but the rational part of my brain won out in that - I really don't need any more clothes.
Now I am back at the house. I briefly considered heading into work for a few hours (I told them I was definitely taking the morning off for my car thing, possibly the whole day because I can), but decided I really didn't feel like driving 20 miles, crossing the Snake River bridge and fighting the 30 mph gusts doing their damnedest to push my high-riding, short-wheel base Tracker off into the river, and then fighting Crazy Apple Pickers through the orchards who go too fast, pass on double yellow lines, and generally disregard as many of the typical driving laws as they can. Also, haven't had a day off since July, so I figure I'm due.
