My Student Loan Grace Period is up in a few days, so I spent the morning making phone calls and checking my accounts and applying for the SCA/AmeriCorps Award Forbearance thing. As it is, I thought I had roughly $12,000 worth of Student Loans to pay back, and with the AmeriCorps Award I get at the end of my internship, that would bring my balance down to $7500 or there abouts, so I was all "yay, I my monthly payments won't be as much!"

In the process of checking my accounts and applying for forbearance, though, I realized "Hey, wait a sec, this list doesn't show my Saint Cloud loan, only my University of Wisconsin loans," so I dug a bit deeper and called around a bit and discovered that yes, I do still have a loan $5800 from Saint Cloud to pay back *along* with the $12,000 I built up for all the University of Wisconsin/Great Lakes Student Loans, bringing my total Student Loan balance up to around $18,000. :(

On the bright side, doing the forbearance thing means I won't have to start paying them back for another year yet, and the $4500 AmeriCorps Award will bring my balance back down around $13,500, but still... It sucks that I am metaphorically $6000 dollars poorer and I will spend that much more of my life paying off student loans.

So Do Not Want. :'( :'( I hate being in debt.
