Not long for Washington

Mar 08, 2010 12:31

One week from today, I will be on my way across country to live and work in Washington state for one whole year. The idea doesn't scare me nearly as much as it did when I first accepted the position, and I can honestly say I am really looking forward to the experience. I'm not "excited" persay, but I am calm and accepting and I can easily picture myself going out there and settling in and making the most of the adventure. Still a bit worried about not having a support structure in place when I get there, but I'm hoping that the previous talent I had once upon a time for making friends will reassert itself. We shall see.

That said, this week will probably be too busy for me to worry much more than I already have anyway. Coyote is in the shop as we speak getting new tires and a full mechanical physical to make sure he's sound for the journey across country. I am a *little* anxious that he's been there for almost two hours and we still haven't gotten an all clear from Simon, but hopefully that is just my irrational paranoia rearing it's ugly head again.

Tomorrow I might be meeting a friend in Marshfield for lunch, and then I also want to head to Saint Vincent DePaul's to see if I can find a new over the shoulder bag or small back-pack (like my beloved Taz bag) to replace the purse I am currently using which may not be much longer for the world. Wednesday Manda is getting here, yay! No ides what we'll be doing to entertain ourselves for the three days she'll be visiting, but whatever, I gets an Amanda! Thursday and/or Friday will most likely involve spending a good chunk of the day in Marshfield running around doing some last minute moving things and showing Manda the sites (what few there are in Marshfield. I am totally taking her to the YMCA, though, because we have a nice YMCA. The staff is kind of cold and aloof, but the facility itself is fantastic), and whenever we aren't in town, I'll probably be packing and making her help. ;) Saturday night Manda hops a train back to Saint Cloud, so we'll probably spend the afternoon down in Lacross at an artifact show down there and then drop her off at the train station around 5-ish. Sunday is my Going Away Party at El Mezcal in Marshfield, and then finally on Monday morning my parents and I will finish packing up the car and start the first leg of the long three day drive to Washington.
