GIS assignment, day summary, and Girls Night

Mar 30, 2009 18:33

Provided I actually read the assigned chapter for Mineralogy tonight and do the "What did you learn/What did you have trouble understanding" thing that goes with it, I am completely caught up with all my assignments and classes for the first time in... a very long time. It's kind of a weird feeling,

Aaaanyway, today was loooong. Started class at 9:30 and just got home around 6. However, part of that long day consisted of walking aaaaall the way around campus with a GPS to get 6 specific points for a GIS assignment. Not sure how big campus is mile-wise, but I'm pretty sure we walked at least a mile and quite possibly more than that to get to all the points (not to mention walking to school this morning), so yay for lots of exercise!

The campus walk was actually quite fun. I partnered up with another student for the assignment - Carolyn, the same woman who I was partnered with for the Forestry internship last spring - so I wasn't doing the walk by myself. Also, it was a pretty nice day today; a bit windy, but otherwise sunny with temperatures in the mid 40s. I figured today was the best day to do the walk anyway, cause starting tomorrow we're supposed to get another snowy/rainy/slushy mix of a "winter" storm, and the icky weather is going to last until at least Wednesday.

So we walked and we got the points and we *finished* our GIS assignment and turned it in ON TIME and everything (technically it was due today in class, but Dr. Rice is nice in that he gives us a Tentative Due Date and then a Final-Turn-It-In-Or-Get-Half-Credit Due Date a week after the Tentative one, so it wasn't DUE due until next Monday) for the first time since The Huge GIS Project of Doom a few weeks ago threw me off schedule. Which means I am now completely caught up in GIS. Wohoo, go me.

And then I got a ride home from Carolyn cause, seriously, I'd done enough walking for the day. New shoes, however, lived up to their price tag in that we were walking around for at least an hour and a half and my tendonitis didn't start acting up until the very end, and even then it was only a slight twinge and not the OMG, OW! that I usually have to deal with.

Also, I got McDonald's for dinner. Shame on me. Since I'm back to living on Bagel Sandwiches, though, I was grateful for a bit of variety.

On a completely different note, we just downgraded again so we don't even have broadcast channels. Woe, I have to wait until tomorrow for my Chuck and Castle fix. HOWEVER, that doesn't stop me from still wanting to do another Girls Night In cause I can still watch stuff online. So far I've gotten two votes for a Castle viewing - any other takers?
