Some poems I've written within the past few years

Dec 27, 2002 22:20

So, was chatting with Kimmykinksandvanilla on MSN today and she told me that YAY! She had been a semi-finalist in this poetry contest she had entered! YAY Kimberley! She's getting published!
Anyhoo, I told her that i wrote a little and she told me to send her some of my poems cause she really wanted to read them. She also tried to convince me to try and get some of them published, but she didn't have a whole lot of luck in that area... ::smiles sweetly:: {{{{{{huggles Kim}}}}}}}
But, since she wanted to see them, i figured I would post them here. I figured she would see them eventually, even if she doesn't check her LJ that often (hint hint, Kim dearest... :D )
So, here's three I've written within the past two years or so, and the ones I think were written the best. So, enjoy!

Friends
A friend is someone who is always there,
Someone with whom many secrets you can share

A friend is someone you can talk to all night;
When hurt or in pain, they comfort you, saying that it will be alright

A friend is the sister or brother you never had,
A shoulder to cry on when you're upset or sad

When it feels like life is not worth living anymore,
A friend will help you fight the inner war

A friend is someone you can't imagine being without;
Someone to laugh with and someone to worry about

A friend is someone you're not afraid to look crazy with,
Someone who always remembers your birthday and gets you a gift

A friend will be your friend through all the years of life,
A friendship that will last forever, come what might

A friend is someone who will always care,
Someone with whom many secrets you can share

Live
Live for those who never got the chance
Live for those who gave up their turn to dance
Live for the children tomorrow will never know
Live for the parents who couldn't watch them grow
Live for the brother who lost a sister sweet
And live for the father who, over his little girl's grave, does weep
Live for the mother who's heart is torn apart
As she cries for a son who from this life did depart
Live for a husband who can't see his widow's tears
And live for the man who's sobs his wife will never hear
Live for a mother lost, and the family that will never have her to hold
And live for a father's children who can never hear his bedtime stories told
Live for a sister who lost a brother so dear
And live for a girl who can never again hold her beloved near
Live for a solider who, a hero, will always be
As you live for the family who can only hold on to their memory
Live for the little girl who's life was taken away
And live for her mother as she weeps over the grave where she lay
Live for the father who's young son was lost
Who will, for the rest of his life, be aching over such a cost

Live for those you never got the chance
Live for those who gave up their turn to dance
Live for those who's lives were taken away
Because, in this world, it's seems the innocent are the ones who pay

It Takes Time
It takes time for the heart to heal
When broken and beat with misuse
It takes time for the tears to flow
Until the overwhelming flood is reduced

It takes time for the eyes to rekindle
That fire burning within
It takes time for a voice long lost
To remember what it's like to sing

It takes time for the dawn to come
From a night seemed so lost in despair
It takes time for the wind to clear
The lurking nightmare from the air

It takes time for the soul to free
From the pain and guilt inside
It takes time for the eyes to clear
When for so long that they have cried

It takes time for the mind to relearn
That there is still so much in life
To understand that the world keeps turning
And that, soon, the sun will rise
