meatballs!
I can write the following with a fair amount of confidence that my father doesn't read my blog:
I am making about 30-40 meatballs tonight, as well as a yummy spaghetti sauce, in preparation for his 60th *surprise* birthday party tomorrow. Whee! I also have a case of Heineken, lots of party decor, and a few miscellaneous other food items to bring downstairs; the party is being held at my condo's clubhouse. We're expecting 40-50 people (what a surprise, right?!), and my mom is baking a honey baked ham. I also ordered a fantastic cake from a great bakery in Baton Rouge (the turtle cake from Ambrosia), my sister is baking a cake, and almost everyone who RSVPed is bringing something: food item and/or alcohol.
I think it'll be a success. Mom and I are pretty damn good party hostesses, if I do say so myself. Individually we're good, but together.. We tend to throw pretty good parties, i.e., Sierra Club holiday party, to name one. So I'm excited. It's kind of my pet project and my gift to my papa, and I can't wait to see how surprised he is at (a) the sheer number of people, and (b) the people who are coming. I know he won't be expecting at least half of the folks; some of them we haven't seen in months or even a few years! It'll be a good time.
Here's re-hoping he doesn't read my blog, or at least not prior to tomorrow evening! I think I'm safe. If you know my papa and want to come to the party, give me a call/email! :)
