Report on our NYE party

Jan 02, 2007 13:30

Whew-let's put it this way, I spent most of yesterday recovering ;-)
We had a lot of fun-all those who said yes actually showed up and even a couple of our maybes showed up! As usual, I made too much food but I can't help it. Part of it is just how I was raised-there should never be a risk of running out of food! I think some of it is just that I love to cook when I have an audience for the food. This is my form of art-I don't paint, carve or really play an intrument but I can cook. I'm at my happiest getting to cook for people and watching them eat. As usual though, I didn't eat a whole lot until the next day. I think we all had a pretty good time-I know I did! I want to thank everyone for coming over and sharing in the start of the New Year with us.
A riddle for you-How many people does it take to chase down a 9 month old cairn terrier set loose by mistake?
EIGHT! It was kind of funny watching this string of people running after our stupid dog-and thanks to all who participated in her recapture!

We held a little mini ritual in the backyard just after midnight. I lit a fire in the outdoor fireplace and gave an offering to the Gods and Goddesses-a banishment ritual of sorts. I sacraficed the mask made and used for my radiation treatments. I felt such a weight lift from my shoulders as I watched it melt away.

Thank you to all who have been here for us during this past 6 months of hellish cancer stuff. One more round of chemo to go-starting tomorrow and then I'm hoping to be back at work and rejoin the world. The bad part is-my newly grown fuzzy hair is starting to come out again from chemo but at least we know it will come back again...
Here's to a cancer free future!!!!!!!!!
