I don't know which is scarier, me turning 40 in a few weeks, or David McCallum turning 70 today.
I have been extremely attracted to Mr. McCallum for decades now. (Sad but true.) Although I had known of his existence, vaguely, it wasn't until I saw an episode or two of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. at a
Federation meeting, oh, like 1984 that I started to have any interest in him whatsoever. CBN (now FoxFamily, if memory serves) started airing the episodes in Fall 1985-- which was about the same time I got cable tv. Once I got a vcr in December of that year, I started taping...and watching... and, damn! I was totally hooked on Illya and his filthy Eastern ways.
I've been interested ever since. He's such a quirky actor, for one thing, and, yeah, there's a small bit of resemblance between him and the husbandoid (every once in awhile, someone will tell the husbandoid that he looks like "that guy who was on that spy show in the 60's"....)
Although McCallum's now 70, he's still pretty gosh durn attractive. At least as far as I'm concerned. I'm actually looking forward to him being on a new series (Navy NCIS starting Tuesday), to the point where I might actually watch it.
Anyway, here's to you, McCallum-- many happy returns of the day!
