My theory re Rose and the End of the Series, hastily put up online before "Army of Ghosts" airs in the UK. Spoilers for the whole second series are within, so have a care if you click!
I'm thinking she can't die cos it's a kiddie show and as much as there have been real deaths, Rose means way too much to all those kids out there (esp. the young unspuddy female demographic which RTD has said he's trying to court) and I think the audience, at least THAT audience, would bail big time if she was in fact DEAD. (vs. being somewhat dead, slightly dead, undead or going to a higher plane of existence).
I had another theory this morning which isn't about her death so much as tying in with the Daleks (even though we know there is no way in Hell that they're showing up in the finale because, well, some anorak on OG is denying it beyond all reason). I think she might have to go underground i.e. the Daleks may be after her. Other ppl have theorised it too but because she's as TARDIS-Vortex-Rose was the Killer of All Daleks. I'm thinking it actually goes back earlier -- remember, she touched poor ickle Dalek in "Dalek" and he became part of her. He tried to reach the rest of Dalek-kind but couldn't (or so NINE said). What if that didn't happen? What if somehow, the Dalek fleet hanging outside of Space & Time got the message but didn't want to show their hand. Or worse, what if somehow Rose changed the time line by touching poor ickle Dalek and somehow revived them all with her DNA?
No, I don't know where I'm going with this. But, yanno, if an Isolar spore can make a little girl's drawing become real and someone else can be revived as a paving stone...
Hey, maybe that's it? Rose doesn't die but she becomes one with a paving stone just like Urshula. That should make the Shippers happy, now wouldn't it?
Only 45 minutes until some people get to see it - am still debating on wanting to avoid all spoilers until I gets to view or if I'm going to go nuts and start reading commentary at 3 pm EST.
PS we know the Doctor is into threesomes. Well, Nine at least. You're not denying the obvious fact of Doctor/Rose/Jack, now are you?! :)
But, I am hoping that the "has to go underground (or alt-universe) to hide from ppl (Daleks, Torchwood, etc.)" is the way things go. Mostly because I don't want to deal w/ the major wankage if she does indeed die.
BTW, Tam is annoyed w/ Rose, too. A convo between us earlier this week went like this:
TAM: I hope in the finale, Rose is a real kick-ass companion.
ME: Erm, ok, why?
TAM: Because when she leaves, I wanna kick her ass out the door!
I am hoping for some Jack/TENnant face time, too. *swoon*

Having see "AoG" just now, I am really inclined to think she is not yet dead (everybody sing!) because despite the whole Sunset Blvd/Desperate Housewives/Shallow Grave I-hear-dead-people-voice overs schtick, there are shots of her looking forlorn and windblown etc. which seem to be WHEN she is narrating and if the Afterlife is a cold windy UK beach, we're all fucked.
LOL Tam is definitely kickarse. That cracked me up. :)
And I don't think anyone wants to deal with the major wankage, including RTD!
