It's been about a month since my last "weekly round-up" post. I'll aim to do better during September. :)
Spoilers for Warehouse 13 2.09 "Vendetta"; Burn Notice 4.11 "Blind Spot"; Leverage Season 3; Royal Pains Season 2 finale.
I was off work today, but being a night owl, I got virtually nothing in the way of real work done. I thought I would kick up some actual productivity by posting a few .gifs I made from memorable moments of the TV shows I caught up on over the weekend.
.Warehouse 13.
After watching the Warehouse 13/Eureka crossover, I got into Season 2 of Warehouse 13. I had really enjoyed Season 1, but I wasn't particularly excited about watching the new Season. This is mainly because I don't have access to broadcast TV or cable, so I either have to watch things on hulu or by...other means.
Warehouse 13 is like, crazy good in the way of character development and consistency, unlike The Big Bang Theory, where each episode seems to reset where the characters where in the previous episode and possibly ignore actual character development in favor of a cheap gag.
Pete & Myka continue to be adorable. I love how they've gone from antagonistic to comfortable companionship.
2.08 . "Merge With Caution"
Myka [in Pete's body]: Turn.
Pete [in Myka's body]:So, what'd you promise Kelly.
Myka: Well, you will find out. Oh my God, your hands are so clumsy.
Pete: Oww!
2.09 . "Vendetta"
Myka: [to Artie] I was waiting for the right time.
Pete: Mm-mm. This ain't it.
And I really love when I character really surprises me, as in the case of Claudia Donovan. She's geeky, a hacker, awesome, socially awkward, impulsive, impatient, and despite all of this, is very emotionally vulnerable, rather than volatile.
I mean, just look at her face at the end of the episode.
Allison Scagliotti really brings it to this role.
I wrote
[10] Claudia/Fargo drabbles.
.Eureka.
I'm slow about catching up on the Season 4 episodes. I started with episode 5, and I the last one I watched was "Stoned." It's really interesting, after watching all of Season 1, to see where Jack and Allison's relationship is right now, especially after the season 1 finale gave a very fulfilling glimpse of where things could be right now.
Neil Grayston, where have you been hiding all my life?
I ordered the Season 2 DVD Friday, so it should be in the mail, arriving at my house sometime in the middle of the week.
.Burn Notice.
I barely remember what happened in Season 3. My dad was into the show more than I was. However I saw tweets about Season 4 on twitter, and once I found out that Coby Bell was going to be guest-starring, I immediately had a renewed interest in the show. He was hilarious on "The Game." He has this really dry delivery that I really appreciate. Like, if you're not paying attention, you'll completely miss the joke. Honestly, his BN character, Jesse Porter, got on my nerves a little bit with his impulsive, young-buck, cowboy routine, so I'm glad his character has calmed down from that.
I also liked his chemistry with Fiona. Granted, I didn't think anything romantic would happen between them. And then comes, seemingly out of the blue, that Jesse has feelings for Fiona. *wince* It's not that it's not a believable transition, seeing that the two of them had been spending so much time together on the job and such. The reveal was just too heavy-handed for my tastes, with Michael's mom, Maddy, practically spelling it out, I suppose for the benefit of the audience(?).
So, next episode, whatever, I'm glad Jesse seems to have his feelings in check after realizing that Fiona's not gonna leave Michael for him or anything. It's cool; he hasn't made a move on her or anything. He and Fiona continue to get along. In episode 4.11 they're on a stakeout together, about to get discovered by the mark's security.
And so it happens:
04.11 . "Blind Spot"
Michael Voiceover: If your surveillance is about to be blown, you have two choices. You can run, or you can stay put and make it look like you have a reason to be there.
In other words: FAKE!MAKEOUT.
For whatever reason, Fiona's kiss with Jesse was way more cracklin' (not even sure that's proper slang, but whatever) than any kiss I've seen her have with Michael. Like, I actually edited the kiss down in that gif. Just sayin'.
Jesse's face at the end of it really made it for me. I still laugh whenever I watch it.
.Leverage.
It continues to be great. I liked last season better than this one. It is specifically because of the overreaching story arch that was proposed early in the season, with the team trying to bring down Damien Moreau in order to keep Nate our of jail. So, with each episode, I've been wondering how it all will tie together and not getting much payoff in the episodes that follow. However, there have been little hints here in there. For example Hardison revealed that one of the recent mark's security system used a variation of a computer code that was created by Larry Douberman, the guy who couldn't let go of his high school days.
The team moments are what keep me loving this show, however. I mean, I'm still sailing off the high of Parker and Hardison's pretzel moment. You can see that these two have grown closer in little ways, like, whenever they're sitting next to each other or just walking together.
Parker is growing a great deal this season, too, and I really like it. She's becoming more comfortable and capable on the grift.
Lately, tumblr has been good about making me aware of
fics that don't exist yet, but seriously need to. I'm looking at you, K.
.Royal Pains.
The Summer Finale aired a few weeks ago. The cliffhanger didn't leave me begging for more, but I'm still interested to see where the show is going.
I need a fic where Evan somehow finds out about Divya's kiss with Adam and he actually freaks out about it, like, how can you do this to Raj?! He really cares about you...!
On that note- Divya, I get you falling for Adam because he was awesome enough to donate his kidney to his housekeeper. But you still barely know the dude. And he totally might die/probably is going to die, just to get all the tropes checked off. *sigh*
