Disclaimer:...If I owned them, there would have been a WHOLE LOT MORE stripping in the Super Show, and I'd be married to Hyukjae by now...
The sun was slowly setting as Hankyung gazed out the expansive window of his temporary dorm room. He, along with the rest of Super Junior M, hadn't had a moment's reprieve in weeks. Between recording, promotions, and keeping an eye on the four non-Chinese members, he'd barely had time to breathe, let alone be happy to once again be home. He sighed at the thought.
As of late, the word 'home' wasn't as comforting as he remembered. Odd feelings of longing accompanied it now. It was a feeling quite similar to the ones he had when he first left his native China for Korea. Back then, even speaking his mother language brought on terrible pangs of homesickness. Things slowly got better once he had found his place in Super Junior, surrounded by people who, like himself, were away from home.
So why, he wondered, were those feelings of homesickness and loneliness returning?

"Well, this sucks," Donghae grumbled as he sat up and ran a hand through the sleep-induced rat's nest he called hair. Looking at the alarm by his bed, he groaned at the red 2:34am that flashed at him.
Sighing, the brunette slid out of bed, realizing that sleep would not reclaim him quite yet. Quietly padding out of his room, Donghae decided to see if there was anything good on TV, whether he could understand it, or not. As he was walking past the others' rooms, he noticed Hankyung's door open a crack. Peeking inside, he saw the SJM leader sitting on the windowsill, staring out into the night sky, an odd look on his face.
"Hyung?" No response. "Hannie?" he tried, a bit louder this time. The elder jumped, startled by his dongsaeng's appearance.
"Donghae, what're you doing awake? You should be sleeping."
"So should you," he replied, entering the room. Taking a seat on the bed, Donghae continued. "Is something wrong? You haven't been yourself lately."
All was silent until the Chinaman returned his gaze to the window, a wistful smile playing on his lips. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is."
"I don't know how well I can explain it, since I don't really understand, myself," he said after a moment.
"Feel free to try. I'll listen. I mean, maybe I can help you figure it out."
Hankyung stared out the window a bit longer before getting up and joining Donghae on the bed.
"Are you homesick, Hae?"
Donghae's brows furrowed, caught a bit off-guard by the question. "Well, yeah, sure I am, but it's not so bad anymore. Why?"
He shrugged. "I'm grateful to be back in China after so long, but something's different now. It's like something's not here that should be. I felt it when I first went to Korea, whenever I thought about home." He paused. "It's as if 'home' isn't 'home' anymore."
The younger boy sat quietly, processing what his hyung had told him. Hankyung didn't have long to wait for a reply.
"You know, when we first got here, the hardest part for me was waking up alone. All day, I'd feel like something was missing. Then, he called me and told me that he was feeling the exact same way," he explained. "I know that Hyukjae and me are a bit different, but the feeling is the same."
"What do you mean?" the dancer asked, intrigued by the young singer's train of thought.
"To me, home isn't just Korea." At that, he looked down and smiled a small, loving smile. "Home is where he is." His gaze returned to his hyung. "It's where you all are."
Hankyung blinked in confusion as he thought about everything that Donghae had said.. 'He's right,' he realized, eyes widening in realization. The longing that he so often felt was slightly lessened as he thought of the others still in Korea, as well as those with him in China:
Leeteuk's mothering
Kangin's protectiveness
Yesung's sensitivity
Kibum's calming presence
Shindong's humor
Eunhyuk's easy smiles
Ryeowook's innocent youth
Kyuhyun's snarky, yet kind attitude
Siwon's gentle nature
Sungmin's cheerfulness
Heechul's (over)dramatics
Henry and Zhoumi's dedication
...and Donghae's genuine heart
Smiling, Hankyung pulled the brunette into a hug, which was gladly returned. "When did you get so smart, Hae?"
He chuckled. "Oh, I've always been this smart. You guys just never noticed. Besides, I get a kick out of the shock value," he added, making Hankyung laugh out loud.
They remained like that until the Chinese man pulled away, still smiling. "You should try sleeping."
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah." Getting up, Donghae walked toward the door and was about to leave when Hankyung stopped him.
"Thank you, Donghae."
"No problem. You've helped me a lot, so I'm glad to finally be able to return the favor." That said, he walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Once alone, the dancer looked at the phone sitting on the side table. After a few minutes of debating the pros and cons-more con, than pro-he dialed a familiar number. After a few rings, someone answered.
-I swear to whatever God'll listen that if I look anything less than perfect later, I'm flying to China and personally disemboweling whichever of you was suicidal enough to disturb my beauty sleep-the sleep-filled voice growled.
He chuckled slightly. 'Donghae was right. Home is where he and the others are.' "Hey, Hyung."
