(Prologue) (One) (Two)

I know that it's been awhile for me since I'd posted a chapter of this, but I've been going through a lot emotionally lately, and on top of that, I had a handful of timed challenges that required my full attention. This chapter is a bit more of a filler, but more information is given as well, along with hints to the main plot/climax of the story. I hope you enjoy~

Changmin stood outside the library, waiting for Yunho to arrive. They hadn't really specified a time to meet, but they had agreed on the evening when fewer people would be there. Looking down at his watch, he noticed with an exaggerated sigh that it had stopped at midnight.

Shaking his head, the tall young man took a seat on the steps, watching the people come and go, not one paying him any mind. Not that he cared, of course, since he was barely paying attention to them, either.

The sound of the familiar motorcycle drew Changmin from his musings as he stood, watching Yunho pull into the parking spot in front of him. Pulling off his helmet, Yunho placed it on his bike and turned toward Changmin, smiling slightly.

"Hey."

"Hey," Changmin replied back, watching as Yunho brought a long leg around and stepped off of the bike. "So how are you?"

"I'm fine. No weird rainy day rides that I don't remember, if that's what you mean," he chuckled.

Laughing back, Changmin motioned for the other to follow him. "Well, shall we?"

The two walked up the large stairs into the library and headed right over to the computers. Yunho handed the librarian his card since they would be working together, meaning that she only needed a single ID. Taking a seat in front of the computer, Yunho placed his long fingers over the keys and turned toward Changmin.

"So what should we type in here?"

He thought for a moment before replying, "How about the house address? We can see what comes up and just go from there."

Nodding, Yunho typed in the street address as Changmin rattled it off, hitting enter. A moment later, a long list of links popped up. It had everything from real estate to mortuaries, which had sent shivers down the backs of both Yunho and Changmin. Scrolling through, Changmin noticed something.

"Wait. Yunho, go back up two." Once he did, the younger boy leaned closer and began reading. "LOCAL TEEN DIES IN TRAGIC FALL." Below the headline was a picture of nineteen year old Kim Junsu.

The very same Kim Junsu that he had met two nights ago in the old church.

The article spoke of his death, and how he had been attending the funeral of his best friend, a boy named Lee Hyukjae, who had drowned two days earlier.

"When did this happen?" he asked.

Yunho scrolled down a bit. "May 13, 1969," he read off. Continuing to look through articles, it was Yunho who caught something. "Changmin."

"Whaddaya got?" he asked.

"This article is about this guy named Kim Jaejoong who died outside of the house at the phone booth between there and the church where that Junsu guy died. I guess he was hit by a car when it swerved and slammed into the phone booth while he was in it."

The article showed a picture of a striking young man, ebony hair and onyx eyes. 'He was mesmerizing,' Changmin thought as he continued to stare at the picture.

Reading a bit further, Yunho's eyes grew. "Whoa..."

"What?" Changmin questioned, looking at the screen and trying to figure out what Yunho saw that he hadn't.

"The date, Changmin," the older boy murmured. "Look at the date."

He did.

"Holy..." he drew out.

May 13, 1989

"That's one hell of a coincidence." Yunho nodded in agreement before he continued on.

Nothing else really stuck out, so on a whim, they decided to go back even further. A couple small things here and there, but nothing else involving May 13...until Yunho sneezed, jerking the ball of the mouse. Looking at the screen, the pair stared at the small blurb, something so minute that it would easily be missed if the hadn't been looking for it.

There on the screen was a small article about a young musician who owned the house back in the forties. It had been left to him by his grandfather, an eccentric man who died in the house. The young man himself was said to be just as crazy, though was well known for his musical and literary genius, despite his young age.

He lived in the house alone, though was known to take in partners of the male persuasion, which in those days was considered a serious taboo. The article went on to say that the young man had missed an important meeting which would bring him a great deal of money. Deciding to check on him, his younger brother went to the house. He came out screaming, and it was later learned that the young man had been murdered the previous night.

Asphyxiation, it seemed.

It was rumored to have been the work of the man's lover, a kind yet imposing gentleman who was the last person seen entering the manor. When the police went to find him, however, he had all but vanished.

Changmin and Yunho stared at the screen before turning toward each other, nodding.

"Check the date," Changmin whispered, watching as Yunho did just that.

May 13, 1949

---------------------------------------------------

The two sat in a nearby 24 hour coffee shop, Yunho nursing a cup of coffee while Changmin had no appetite, his thoughts all over the place.

"May 13," Changmin muttered, more to himself than anyone else.

"Did you notice the other thing, Changmin?" Yunho asked, drawing Changmin's attention. "It's every twenty years. 1949, 1969, and 1989," he pointed out.

"I noticed," he said, nodding. "Today is May 11, Yunho."

"Yeah. 2009," he replied, pushing the half full cup away.

"Twenty years."

They sat in silence when Yunho spoke up. "What the hell is going on, Changmin? How does what's been happening to me-us-figure into all of this?"

He didn't have an answer.

Yunho continued, as if maybe simply talking it out may make the pieces fall into place. "I'm being controlled by something, and it's bringing me to that house. And you keep waking up in different places with people who you've never met before, most of which are dead."

"I don't get it either, Yunho. I really don't."

"How about today? Were you home when you woke up?"

Changmin opened his mouth to reply, but paused, allowing it to close. Brows furrowed, the boy thought about the question.

"I-I don't know..." Looking at Yunho, he continued. "How can I not know, Yunho?!" he rambled, beginning to panic.

"Changmin, calm down. What's the first thing you remember today?"

"It's hazy, but my first clear memory is being outside the library waiting for you," he replied quietly.

The pair was quiet, minds slowly working through everything that had happened to them lately.

"Changmin," Yunho began quietly.

"Yeah."

"...I don't like this at all."

Changmin was quiet. "Me neither, Yunho...me neither."
