The Man Who Sold the World

There’s a man who wears a suit
Trades stocks on Wall Street
Drives all the expensive cars
Lives in all the biggest houses

But by day he hides a secret
That comes to show at night
He’s selling the souls of the living
Taking the life out of you and me

He’s the man who sold the world
Waving his anti-flag unfurled
We got a price and we don’t know
Auctioned to the highest bidder
By the man who sold the world

The man who wears the suit
Takes luxurious vacations
To destinations far and near
Sees things we’ll never see

He likes to gamble on the strip
Plays all the high stakes games
Throws all of his chips in the middle
Each one represents what we were

He’s the man who sold the world
Betting that the poor can’t win
We got a price and we don’t know
Auctioned to the highest bidder
By the man who sold the world

The man who wears the suit
You see him on the front page
You’d think his life is perfect
But there’s something missing

The man who sold the world
Doesn’t have a soul of his own
Sold it to the Devil for what he’s got
Fame and fortune are empty in the end
For the man who sold the world
