I've been noticing this phenomenon for a few years now. When I first started out on the internet I spend a lot of time browsing websites, just surfing for the heck of it and finding a lot of funny new stuff. My list of bookmarks grew exponentially.
But the last few years the sites I visit have stabilized and even shrunk. I also never just go on the internet to surf to new sites. I wonder why that is. Is there nothing else out there that I would find interesting? Unlikely. Don't I have enough time to visit the sites I frequent now and then find new ones as well? Also unlikely since I'm sitting behind my computer often enough refreshing the sites I do visit in the hopes of new content.
It's pretty perplexing. Could it be the internet just has changed over the years? Is there no real new and good content? Or have my tastes been refined to the point that I only enjoy a handful of sites?
And even if you want to go find new sites? Where would you start? It's a jungle out there. Could it be that people have gone from consuming content on websites to just googling what interest them at that time, _because_ the internet has gotten to big to just surf around?
Anybody else have the same thing going on?
PS.
Dear text correction. You should accept 'googling' as a valid verb by now.
