I met with my advisor today, a sure sign of impending big news, whether good or bad. She did a lot of math, we wrote all over some schedule sheets, we looked at options, options, options...
And then, she handed me some of the best news I've heard all summer:
I'm graduating at the end of spring!
Two more semesters, and I will have a bachelor's degree. I'm going to graduate in four years.
Fall is the only semester that actually matters; that'll be the last of my requirements finished, and spring is just getting the right number of hours (four more after fall) and taking some management courses because I'm going to be there anyways and can claim a 'focus in management' after that.
I never thought I'd graduate in four years. I had planned on five because the number of required hours keeps getting raised. I am thrilled beyond belief. I have no idea what I'll do after that (well, I have a general idea, but nothing concrete), and I don't think I'm going to think about that until at least summer is over. Too many options and too far away. I feel like I could go anywhere I wanted. And if I can get the fundage together, I may just do that. I'm thinking about going to Europe for a month or so next summer as a graduation present to myself.
In other big news, my sister Jaylen is coming to stay with me for a few days, starting Thursday. I'm excited; this is my birthday present to her, since she keeps asking when she gets to come stay with me now that I have an apartment. The place is barely big enough for me and two cats, so adding a nearly-ten-year-old into the mix should be a grand adventure. I miss her; apparently she made All Stars in softball and straight A's last semester in school. Back when I was in high school, I tended to be the one picking her up from school and taking her to practice, so I heard about all these adventures, and summer was just us at the house, swimming and trying new recipes and watching Spongebob...I mean, Bugs Bunny. That's it, Bugs Bunny [waves at Mom, who's probably laughing at this]. It's gonna be fun; we'll find something to do that doesn't involve being out in this heatwave unless we're submerged in water.
Things are lookin' up.
