About Private Dog and 'Babes in Toyland!'
Intriguing, seductive and highly enjoyable collage-based oil on canvas paintings
by contemporary artist Private Dog. All artworks are part of the 'Babes in Toyland!' show.
An almost impossibly collection of artworks that swarms with questions of consumerism,
value, innocence, corruption and desire. Like for instance Jeff Coons , Private Dog found a way
of making high art out of low art. "Using the trashy vocabulary of female 'internet' nudity,
tempting (sexual) body parts, children's toys and banal everyday objects like television
screens and commercial advertisements, artist Private Dog creates a riot of superficial
information; artificial environments which suggest us good times and happy futures.
Indirect the artist confronts us with modern life's lust for sex,
money and meaningless entertainment;
implying a society that lacks soul, commitment and passion...."
