So apparently I did not notice a leak under my toilet and now there is plumbing drama. We suspect a problem with the toilet's wax seal, given the nature of the leak down into the wall and ceiling of the apartment below me. I've been asked not to flush my toilet until the plumber gets here on Wednesday evening, so that's fun. I took today and tomorrow off from work as vacation on an emergency basis to get things ready for the plumber. For example, the stairwell leading up to my apartment is full of various items on their way in (online mail order shipments) or out (recycling bin that got temporarily paused on a landing six months ago for no good reason and then started accumulating recycling items right there). And I have to clear off and remove the over-the-toilet shelving unit (It's rusted and needed to go anyway, so that's just as well.)
Thursday I have medical appointments all day. First thing is the orthopedist because my left knee has been killing me lately (worse this time that either of the 2011 and 2015 occurences of what was both times diagnosed as osteoarthritis and treated with a cortisone shot in the knee). I'll be making that trip to the northern suburbs while fasting before my late-morning liver scan. Look, when I scheduled the liver scan I assumed it would be my first event of the day and I don't like mornings, OK? Then I should have time to grab a quick lunch before my early afternoon mammogram appointment elsewhere in the same hospital complex.
I think my old Skagen watch that I'd abandoned as nonfunctional quietly started working again on top of my dresser. This is really good because neither of the new watches I finally ordered this winter worked out for me and I was going to have to start shopping again. I've missed wearing a watch. \o/
In more exciting news, the Penguins were trailing for the first half of this hockey game against their rivals the Washington Capitals, but then they took the lead and extended it and PENS WON! GO PENS!!!
