Oh, my EYES!

Man, I'm gonna need to buy drops for my eyes.

*sigh*

I am joining the ranks of rhe contact lens-wearers. Eeesh. Sure, it was fun yesterday. I went into the eye place squinty and fuzzy-visioned after tooling arond for a couple of days with no vision correction after I broke my glasses the other night. And I left with glasses to be made on Monday and contact lenses in my eyes for the first time since 1988. There was no squinting - well, maybe a little, out of habit and because the sun was kinda bright, so I took myself to the Walgreens up the street and bought plastic sunglasses off the rack for twenty bucks! Do you know how long it has been since I could buy plastic sunglasses off the rack and expect to be able to still *see*? More than twenty years.

Well, so, anyway, you know how there's a honeymoon period and then reality sets in? So, really, they weren't bad. My eyes got a little bit achy after a couple of hours, so I removed them. Today I was supposed to wear them for a couple hours longer, and tomorrow a couple hours longer than that, but seriously? It's been a slugabed Sunday and my eyes are kinda achy today. I couldn't cope with putting them in just to laze around the apartment. So I gave my eyes the day off today, and I'll try the lenses in the morning, but I'll take solution and case to work with me in case I need to remove them part way throgh the day. I can make it back up there to pick up my new glasses on Tuesday or Wednesday morning, and I'll feel a lot better once I have them. And back to that Walgreens for eyedrops, I think. For times like now when I don't have my contacts in but my eyes are all "you bitch, why did you do that to us? we don't want to get used to that; it's *weird*!" (my eyes talk only in lower case letters, I note. I think that's becase lower case letters are rounder, overall, and more eyeball-shaped and friendly. Plus, my eyes are not so stressed that they have gone all angular and tall and distant. Thank goodness.) I think that if I could just wear my new sunglasses all the time with my contacts, then I'd be happy. Oh, and, see, when I got on the bus to come home, I just shoved the sunglasses up onto my head! Because they are just regular, plastic sunglasses and you can do that type of thing with regular, plastic sunglasses!!!

And now I want Advil and to close my eyes for an early night's sleep. Oh, but first I think I want to go soak my feet in the tub. Ohhhhhh, my legs...ow.

Also? My contacts will be fine sitting in their case in the same solution for 36 hours, won't they? That's not *very* long, is it? I mean, they are the two-week kind, so I have a stash of them in the cupboard if I need to put in new ones, but I don't need to, like, go in there tonight and switch them to the other case with fresh solution, do I? Because it's been 24 hours since I took them out, but I'm hoping they can just stay put until morning...? Also? I'm just supposed to rinse them when I put them in and take them out and keep them in fresh solution, right? I have seen intermittent mentions of "cleaning," but I don't quite understand whether there is some other product I'm supposed to have to "clean" them with or what? *sigh* They are two-week disposable contact lenses.

Sunglasses, renenet. Remember the sunglasses. ::blinks::

Man, I'm gonna need to buy drops for my eyes.
