Today has been long and lazy, and a delight. It started with strawberry rhubarb muffins with asian plum ginger preserves, and meandered toward Polish coffee cake and pastries that we only make at Easter, as if we have been jolted into remembering our Polish heritage by the coming of Easter.
Yesterday my Kindle came to my work, and I have been having so much fun with it. Mainly I have been looking up free and cheap books, things that are pretty much given away because the copyright has expired. Currently I am reading "The Secret Places of the Heart" by H. G. Wells. It starts out very amusing, and then slumps a bit in the middle. The beginning was more than enough to make me feel that my 99 cents had been well spent.
The naps, and there have been two of them, were so sweet. Because there was the feeling of "Why not nap?" because nothing demanded otherwise. Oh, and there was a trip to H and R Block in the morning, with an over talkative and yet kindly tax preparer who goes to the same church my mother does- which allowed them to talk a bit about the relative merits of the priests.
Along the line of priests, I sent an email to the person who serves as my spiritual advisor that was somewhat cynical about some things that have been happening within our organization- something sure to be considered to be bad manners to have mentioned on my part, even if genuinely felt. He has been pressing me about how I feel about some things- and if you keep doing that I will likely tell you, even if what I have to say is likely to be unpopular. Along the lines of- since this is a sacred space for me and others who come here- how is it that the people who live here have been allowing their dogs to relieve themselves in the front side yard?
Onward to Easter. May the spirit of rebirth and renewal bring something positive to us all.
