So..
I'm sitting on the deck of our hotel room which is overlooking the ocean, and it feels amazing. The smell of the ocean air along with the lulling sounds of the ocean waves as they break into the shore make me want to stay here forever. Anyways, I'm on vacation in VA Beach. It is our first full day here after what turned into a 13 hour car ride here. Sadly, it rained for the better part of the day today, but the crazy thing is, is that if you were just looking out at the beach, you would have never know that it was raining. The beach was pretty packed due to the fact that the water is 77 degrees, and even the rain isn't enough to stop people. This morning I came out onto the deck and looked out into the ocean and watched dolphins swimming in the distance. Now, in the darkness, looking out into the distance you can see the Chesapeake Bay bridge which is about 17 miles long, and took us about 20 minutes to get over. It along with the beach here are all manmade, which is pretty crazy.
This summer has pretty much consisted of working, and hanging out with some pretty cool people in the evenings. Despite the fact that I usually start crashing at about 10 o'clock, people usually push me to stay awake a wee bit later. Let's see, for the 4th of July Eddie and Liz came with me to go up to the Lake (aka Lake Winnepausaukee...who knows how to spell that)-that was pretty sweet. I haven't really done anything exciting other than that, which is kinda sad but true. Two weeks ago now I went to visit Amanda in Boston, and that was so great. We layed on the roof of her apartment and smoked some cigars. Me and Johnny went to the Folk Festival on Friday and did some pretty mean polka dancing..oo..and I would really like to go to the ball room dance class thing in Nashua on Fridays..so I'm hoping that will happen. Tonight, as I sit here out on the deck, I'm memorizing the 50 states and capitals, because I am sad to say I do not yet know them. That was one of my summer goals which makes me excited because I will get to cross it off the list. I would also like to go to Jose the hot dog man, go camping, maybe get dressed up one night and go out. This is quite a moderate list, so if anyone has some suggestions for fun things I could do with the remainder of my summer, lay them on me. I am hoping to go and visit Eddie in NY soon. Me and Nathaan made breakfast, and by made I mean, I went over and he made it for me. I went water skiing, and was not very good. I am hoping I get to improve that though. Ooo...and this past week at work, Dan surprized me and was waiting there for me when I got out with a yellow rose. It was so great. One day we had a mock-beach day at my house, where my deck was kind of like the sand, and then the pool was the ocean. Then there were the many-a Dan-licenseless nights where I drove out to his house, but it's ok..cuz as much as I complained, it was worth it to get to see him. This past week we lost power, and apparently Pelham was hit hardest, and 7 news was totally reporting live from none other than the home of Chunky's itself, Pelham, NH. I secretly think that 7 news was on it's way someplace else when their truck broke down and then they were like..hmmm...how can we make this work?..Anyways, due to the fact that there was no power, obviously we had a dance party in my family room with such classics as Thriller, followed by me doing gymnastics in the family room-quite a night. ooo...then Liz slept over, which was sweet, cuz we have not had nearly enough of those this summer.
Tonight I read the Day of Smell You Later, which is a story that Kevin wrote, and it's so great and makes me miss last summer, and our climb up Mt. Monadnock. I hope that something equally as memorable will happen with the remainder of this summer. On a side note, one of the best things here, aside from the fast that there are literally ZERO bugs, is that it's safe enough that people are walking on the boardwalk alone right now, and families are still out with thier kids. Well..I am guessing this is enough for now..seeing I don;t do this very often
Happy Summer*
