a bittersweet parting

This is (probably) the last entry I'll ever write here. Not that my journaling days are over or anything, but I frankly don't want to stick around where I'm going to be subject to censorship or deletion for existing under current Russian laws, and that's where we're at right now. I've deleted all the entries here, but I have my own archive and most everything is backed up on Dreamwidth regardless. I won't be deleting my account, but it'll remain empty.

It was fun to look back over the past several years and see how many milestones I've passed in my time on livejournal. I started using it when I was 13 and I'll be 27 in a couple of months. In the time I've been on LJ, I got my first job, started dating, met many of my closest friends, started writing and creating digital art (which is now published in actual physical journals!), transitioned, met my spouse, got married, moved several times, and grew from a nerdy, anxious kid into a fully functioning (for the most part) adult. I don't regret any of it; long form blogging will always be my preferred method of engaging online, and the only thing I'm kind of sorry for is that fandom and social media have grown in directions that are new and foreign to me, whereas LJ has always been comfortable despite its flaws. But hey, that's life. Change is rebirth. And may everyone's rebirth be a happy one.
