As time passes, I grow more and more concerned that the democratic nomination is going to go to Hilary, and then I won't know who to vote for in the election. The recent "resignation" from the Republican party by Bloomburg is intriguing - although he states he will not run for president, it certainly brings questions of whether there will ever be a third party strong enough to win the presidency. It is still very early to judge how this election will turn out - the Presidential campaign started a wee bit early this year (months, that is).

There's also the most recent news about the church paying something like $600 million to victims of sexual abuse... Libby was pardoned (partially)... the state of Pennsylvania went on a temporary shutdown due to budget negotiations (the governor signed the budget today, I sincerely hope that the workers will get paid in time, and that he didn't sign it too late)... and we've still not hired a director for my office.

Isn't it possible to be aware of both (petty matters such as whether someone will spoil a book vs. more weighty matters such as the war in Iraq)?
